Advice please - What's the cheapest way to get my Jag on LPG by
Steve Shuttleworth
I have a beautiful 1985 XJS V12 HE, which currently costs me a king's ransom
to run. In truth, the car only comes out at weekends and I don't do more
than 3K a year, but I would probably use it more if it cost less to feed.
Given the low mileage, I'm looking for the cheapest option to convert the
car, otherwise it'll take me years to recoup my investment.
I'm quite capable of doing the work...

Gas or vapour? by
Adam Coombes
Sorry if this is slightly off-topic, but I know there are people here
who can enlighten my dull grey cells...
What, if any, is the difference between a gas and a vapour? I was trying
to explain steam to my 5 year old this morning and, as kids do, she
asked me this one that stumped me.
;-)

JAG !!! Bloddy things will not START :: PLEASE PLEASE Somebody got any ideas by
Dave Griffs
You very likely have a gas-start option. you may not know how... on my
lovato controller which I have on the ford, you have to hold a button
pressed in while turning on the ignition, and wait for it to go
click-clunk
as it fires the gas system solenoids and shuts them again, then leave go
of
the button and it starts on gas. The same button, pressed when running,
switches between...

Today's MoT Test by
Stewart Hargrave
Car passed its MoT today, but the emissions test provided some
entertainment. The car, a Volvo 740 with an open loop system, was
presented running on LPG, and the tester duly set the emissions test
computer accordingly, shoved the probe up the car's tail and reported
a rather alarming 7.87% CO and 1247ppm HC. The pass figures for a car
of my age are 3.5% and 1200ppm respectively.
So, being a...

LPG - Voltran TS12095 by
Geoff James
I have recently purchased a Renault Megane Scenic with a Voltran
TS12095 Gas Conversion.
I am a complete novice with this and have just checked the mpg on gas
and found it to be only 17MPG,
I understood that it should return around 10% less that petrol.
Can anyone advise how to tune it or a reputable Gas tuning company in
the Merseyside area

Any info on price differentials on the continent? by
David W.E. Roberts
Hi,
considering converting my VW camper (water cooled) to LPG.
Figures from the local supplier's website http://www.easternautogas.co.uk/
suggest that (assuming 20 mpg) I would cover the cost of the conversion
after about 20,000 miles.
This is not a big incentive for UK touring - we probably don't do more than
5,000 miles per year with holidays and local trips - but could be more of an

I have been told that it is possible to use propane gas bottles to
fill up LPG cars. Does anyone have any other information on this.

BRC guage sticks at empty by
Duncan
I have a BRC LPG conversion on my landrover. It is just brilliant
except for the fuel gauge. It seems to stick on empty, can't be
certain if it drops to empty, or just never 'comes up' when I fill it.
It's really annoying!! as the auto-cutoff doesn't work (it's linked to
the guage) so I can only run the tank dry, then count the litres on
the way in. Anyone got any bright ideas. I've changed the...

that doesn't include a company car, I'm thinking of having an LPG conversion

M6 Toll by
David Taylor
In case anyone else hasn't experienced this yet, I filled up at the
services on the M6 Toll yesterday for the first time.
It'll also be my last time.
40.9p per litre, that's nearly 6 quid more expensive for 50 odd litres
than I usually pay.
Petrol was equally expensive but that's just a price hike on behalf of
BP.

Taxing times ahead, maybe? by
Badger
Well, looks as though the governMental policy scaremongering machine has
worked it's black art in the North of Scotland.
A local garage has been fighting endless reams of Moray Council red tape to
install an LPG tank and pump for well over a year now, only to have the
proposed supplier tell them "due to the impending tax changes on this fuel,
we are pulling out of supplying any garages or...
