Closed loop controllers. by
Austin Shackles
couple of questions for the installers among us...
1) are there closed loop controllers which reliably self-learn, and/or don't
need plugging into a laptop or somesuch to set 'em initially? I have access
to a crypton machine.
2) if so, what sort of money am I looking at for a controller, stepper motor
flow adjuster and anything else needed to retro fit such an animal to my
open-loop system?

MPL/G advice for 1.8L Mondeo by
raybbirch
Hmmm. I've become slightly disillusioned with the idea of running on lpg
since reading some of the threads in this newsgroup. There sounds to be more
to it than meets the eye! I bought a Mondeo 1.8 Zetec last November which
already had a professionally fitted lpg system. I was delighted with the
difference in my weekly fuel bill (between £7-10) compared to about £30 that
I was paying for my...

LPG Conversion by
Gio
Hi all, I am thinking of having our Zafira 1.8 converted but I was wondering
what happens to the petrol injectors when running on LPG. Do the conversion
kits totally cut off their operation or is it just the petrol supply via the
pump that is cut and the injectors still go through the actions. I assume
the injectors still open and close in many cases with the exception of
perhaps the OE...

Can I fill my car with domestic Propane by
Garry
I have heard that LPG is a mixture of gases, but is 90% propane. I have also
heard that, although illegal, it is possible to fill up LPG vehicles from
either propane bottles or domestic LPG tanks.
I understand it is necessary to use the "liquid gas", i.e.. taken from the
bottom of the propane bottle rather than the "gas gas" at the top of the
bottle.
Does anyone know - is this possible - just...

LPG Questions by
SimonJ
I have a large screw on the Y piece on the pipes running from the
vapouriser, which I take it controls gas flow, the further open it is, the
more power but lower economy, and as it is closed down, the economy
improves, but power drops?
What is the accepted wisdom when running LPG setups as regards fuel? Can
you run on on LPG all the time, or is it advisable to run on petrol...

starting on LPG by
Novice
In recent discussion on Mondeo LPG Stewart Hargrave wrote:
Most lpg systems start on petrol by
default, but in fact the only reason this needs to be done is to keep
the petrol system working properly. The are positive advantages to
starting on lpg - in a cold engine, petrol is being chucked into it
in
large amounts, so that enough of it will evaporate to ignite. Lpg
doesn't need this,...

Cat or Non Cat by
Mark Lane
I will soon need a new exhaust on my Disco II V8 running LPG. I have been
told that I do not need a Cat which will be a much cheaper option for a full
system particularly as I wanted to a get a Stainless steel system. Can
somebody please confirm if this is true.

XM 2ltr 16v - advice needed by
Mike Preece
I'm just about to convert a '93 XM 16v and have some queries. I've had 2 1.8
Xantias running on a Landi Renzo LCS - 8v (crap) & 16v (great for 70,000m
then started to eat MAP sensors). Last car was a 1.8 16v BiFuel Factory
Necam system - what a let down! 2-4mpg less than the LCS and a teacup for a
tank!!!
I now have the choice of an OMVL Dream 21N or straightforward LCS type (with
mixer) Working...

I'll always use a gauge sender that matches the petrol gauge in the

How do you go about this? I have a Tartarini Tec97 setup with 100L tank

changeover switch. The level guide is OK - I generally go by the trip

V8 Discovery - LPG problems... by
Iain Ogilvie
Hi all...
First post on this group - so please be gentle! ;o)
We recently purchased a '97 Disco, converted some time ago to LPG with 80
ltr tanks replacing the standard pet tank and a smaller pet tank in the
wing.
Don't know what LPG system it is (still a newbie to this) and don't know
when, or by whom, the system was fitted by - although we do have a sheet of

Kia Sedona 2.5V6 flat spot by
Chris Bennett
Any installers successfully done a Kia Sedona 2.5V6? I have one which
has a flat spot when just going on to the throttle from idle. Makes it
a pain when pulling out of junctions etc. Tried a couple of regs,
different mixer size/tuning variations and its always there. Does
anyone know of any vehicle specific problems which may be causing this?
I cant enrich the mixture at this point as Kia...

Mercedes fault by
Briane Moore
Help! agreed earlier today to have a look at a friend of a friends 1989
Merc. (not sure of model), fitted with mechanical fuel injection and a
Landi open loop gas system. Problem is petrol not switching off when
switched to gas, so attemts to run on both fuels and stops. Thought it
would be a simple electrical or mechanical fault involving a petrol
solenoid valve, but now, having done a little...
