Default engine cutting out when hot

Can any of you experts help please. A couple of times now my car has cut out
while running on LPG and has been a real pig to restart. The last time
almost cost me an expensive recovery. The cut out seems to happen when I'm
not depressing the accelerator and the engine warm. As it is automatic the
car coasts when the engine is not running and the first I realise there is a
problem is when I hit the accelerator.

Today while in stationary traffic (engine warm/hot) I was experimenting. The
engine revs dropped to a dangerously low level when I tried to let it
tick-over while running on LPG. Switching to Petrol the tick-over seemed
fine. I have to admit there was some panic hitting of the accelerator prior
to switching over.

I've seen in here suggestions that low-loss/high efficiency leads should be
used with LPG. I'm not sure what are fitted on mine, as I'm not sure about
the plugs, rotor-arm and Distributor cap. Will upgrading cure the problem?

When cold there is no problem. The car supposedly had a full service before
I bought it mid September. But the Distributor cap, leads etc are definitely
older than that.

Cheers, Ray

My car is a 1995 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L, 6 cylinder, automatic
