Default Scorpio LPG?

On or around Thu, 28 Aug 2003 15:30:38 +0000 (UTC), "Waynee"
enlightened us thusly:

Does anyone know of any pitfalls of converting a Scorpio 2.9 to LPG? I've
heard probs with CAT and valve seats. Surely the valve seat prob is the same
as unleaded fuel. If you have a CAT does the car have to have a lambda
sensor? What is lambda sensor?

shouldn't be a valve seat problem on that engine, really. You could always
include a flashlube kit in the conversion, to feed it additive.

IIRC, the 2.9 should be a ford or bosch EFi system, so it has a lambda
sensor already.

CAT will be suitably safeguarded by fitting a closed loop LPG system, using
the lambda sensor to keep the emissions within spec (by tweaking the mixture
all the time) for the CAT. Has the added advantage that it should be a bit
better on the gas consumption.

I wouldn't recommend an open loop system on a CAT-equipped car.
