Default LPG only?

Even on this group there is some uncertainty as to the ability to get fuel
before running out. Yet anyone who has a gas car will quite happily say that
they have not put any petrol in for months. Even with over 1200 stations to
choose from. The mind set not to get into is to use a gas car as a dual
fuel, as running out of gas is the worst thing that you can do to a gas
system as it deposits the nasties in the system. I've never run out of gas
in my pickup, which is gas only, I do know that I have 205 miles to the tank
as a minimum 216 if I've been pushing it. If I can't manage to plan a
journey then why bother. It takes only minutes to get a route with filling
stations available. It takes a little more skill only to fill at the cheap
ones. If I'm going to the north of Scotland where they are a little rarer, I
use a relief tank, which can be simply attached to the load bed by straps.
The LDV Virtee (Ford Falcon Ute) is available which says a lot for a
mainstream company. At £13999 plus VAT it has to be on a lot of shopping
lists.

I have just found this newsgroup.

Excuse my ignorance but are there any cars in the UK that just run on

LPG?

my Land Rover does. get about 220 miles max. range, so you have to be
careful about where you take it, and where the gas supplies are. I could
fit more tank space, mind, although it'd not be easy to get much more on

it
without putting tanks inside.

I do have a refuelling facility at home though.

Default LPG only?

From a point at sea, to the circles of your mind, this is Robin
Dumpleton:

It's true that I very seldom have to resort to running on petrol
(other than the initial 5 seconds at first start of the day) but it
does happen occasionally.

Thing is, my LPG guage has never worked properly, and nor has the 80%
cut out valve (or at least not all filling pumps seem to be able to
cause it to trip out). I can get 220 or more miles without running out
of gas on motorway journeys, but sometimes less than 180 miles of
local driving. Some filling pumps give up the struggle when my tank is
only 70% full, others seem to crack on till it's about 90% full
(oo-err). All these elements compound to create a situation that I
only know for certain how much LPG I have in the tank when I haven't
any.

Sometimes I can tell that I will run out within 2 - 3 miles by the
behaviour of the engine, particularly at tickover. Sometimes I get
about 100 yards warning.

However, on the list of Things To Do (Soonish) is a fiddle about with
multivalve/fuel sender unit.
