Help needed by
HAL 9000
I'm not sure if this is the right subject for this group, so I apologize if
it is not so...
Does anyone knows what was the diameter and width of whells (alloys) &
pneumatics used on Renault 5 Maxi Turbo "Phillips Production" driven by Erik
Comas in 1987?
Thanks in advance!

Mk3 Mini Wiring by
Stuffed
Doesn't look like there's anyone about, and I'll more than likely have the
job done by the time there is... But...
Just picked up an E plate Mayfair. Electrics seem very poorly, indicators
sometimes need a fuse teaking to work, that sort of thing.
Headlights are being a pain though - They wouldn't go out when I got the car
running, so I had a look, and a wire had been scotchlocked between the...

SHOULD I STRIP THE CARS BODY TO BAREMETAL? HOW? blasting? by
jbug
I'm thinking of restoring a Mk1 Mini shell and before you say it yes I
know it is a fairly stupid Idea since I'm only 17 and don't know how
to weld. YET
The shell needs welding to the boot floor, doors, sills and well quite
a bit but I was watching a TV program where they had a VW beattle
shell and sand or shot blasted it to remove all the dirt, paint and
rust etc. I talked to some people about...

what's a good classic for a novice to restore? by
The Blue Max
Reading the other thread about the P4, it sounds like the car is a bit of a
handful for a novice.
What would be a good car to restore if you're a novice?
I fancy doing a welding course and buying an expendable heap, so if I screw
it up I won't mind binning it. OTOH, it would be nice to restore something
that was actually worth something when done. So rather than spend ages on a
GT6 I'd rather...

MG Midget/ Metro engine? by
Jeff Willcott
I have a 1973 MG Midget with a 1275 cc engine. After reading David Visards
Book it appears that the parts for the A series and A + Series engines are
interchangeable. I would like to put the A+ series engine in, will it go
straight in or will the crankshaft have to be swapped? The reason I am
unsure is having stripped the cluth from the A+ (metro) engine the
crankshaft has a clutch retainer bolt...

Cars with right-hand gearchange by
Leroy Curtis
Further to the recent discussion on the Riley Pathfinder and its
right-hand gearchange, I happened on an a copy of Graham Robson's book
"The Cars of BMC" today, and it turns out that my memory was faulty. Not
only did the Pathfinder's successor, the Two-point-Six, retain the
right-hand gearchange location, but the Wolseley 6/90, of which of
course the Two-point-Six was a badge-engineered...

Alfa 33 Cylinder Head Removal by
Alfa Adam
I need to remove the cylinder head on my Alfa 33 16v.
Does anyone know if I can remove the R/H head (Cylinders 1 & 3) without
removing the engine from the car?
If not, could I lower the engine and twist it far enough to lower the
cylinder head and remove it off the bolts?
Can anyone (who's done this delicate trick) please let me know in the next
couple of days?

the engine bay appears to be a complete mix of non-original parts - i.e.
Beige Velour interior!. Can anyone out there help with:-

modded classic insurer by
Ted A Turner
Having thrown a piston in the 1098 in my Morris Traveller and with
another European trip imminent I decided to replace it with a 1300.
Thats taken a bit more resources than I had originally planned
including new manifolds and exhaust, carbs, even throttle cables etc,
but while he was there Ive had a disc brake conversion done too. Since
the new power curve wont fit the original diff Ive had that...

GT6 Rear Trunnion Replacement by
Jonathan Sharman
I have a 1972 GT6 MkIII and need to replace both rear trunnions in time for
the MOT in a months time. My local garage and the Haynes manual imply that
it is a pig of a job to get the old ones out.
Can anyone give me any tips about the best way to approach this. Also is it
a good idea to replace some of the other bushes while I am doing his work.
Any help gratefully recieved
Jon
