295/50R15 tyres... any brand recommendations? by Simon
I need to replace the rear tyres on my '69 Pontiac GTO. I have Cooper Cobra Radial G/Ts on now. I can get a pair of those from my local garage for a reasonable price, but I wondered if you guys had any other brands to suggest? Cheers, Simon

Where did you lot learn about cars? by The Blue Max
I love classics but frankly I know sod all about them in principle. I am quite clued up on specific cars I have owned or currently own, and on cars I've thought about buying where I've done the research. But cars generally - no idea. So where do people here get their knowledge from? I went to a nice school, university, grad job, company car, blah blah. At no point have I ever had formal...

Facet fuel pumps and alternatives... by Jon Tilson
I have a Rover P6 3500S which is afflicted with a facet red top fuel pump. It just passed the Mot but konked out on the brake rollers and got home by whacking said "pump" with a large blunt instrument every 100 yds or so... So I took it apart and then went looking for a repair kit. Moss (bless them) dont sell repair kits...only a new one at a predicatbly unaccesptable price. I put it back...

Landcrabs by Richard Kilpatrick
It looks like I am unlikely to be able to avoid acquiring a 1974 Morris 2200 Landcrab, despite my best attempts to hide from it. It isn't really my sort of car at all, and I have to check a couple of things out. A: Waterpump. It's an E6, but apparently the pumps are different according to installation on all E-series engines. Where would I get a suitable waterpump; assuming that is what it...

Ford Corsair by Del The Obscure
Hi, I had a quick look at one of these today (the owner wasn't there and his wife couldn't find the keys). It's a 2-litre auto, V4 (I assume) column change, fly-off handbrake. Vinyl roof is torn in a couple of places, paint on the boot very faded, tinworm is starting to eat the bottom of one door, the arches and outside of one sill, but the interior is immaculate. 86k on the clock, condition of...

Hi, I have a 1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500, I am looking for a round dash clock, a hole in the dash has been cut out by the last owner and it looks a mess, I want a working clock to plug the hole, the clock should be the same diameter as the fuel guage & temp guage, I would like to have a Smiths clock, if anyone has one for sale, can you let me know. http://www.4plates.co.uk/spitfire.gif (a photo...

Old auction book by Stephen Gray
Hello all. I am trying to locate a book/catalogue that I had in my possession several years ago. The book was by one of the UK auction houses (maybe Christies ?) and listed every car ever made by manufacturer, giving an introduction and then listing the models with their recent auction value. The book was softback and could be bought in places like WHSmiths. I remember it was quite thick and...

Anglesey Vintage Rally by Willy Eckerslyke
Anybody thinking of visiting the Anglesey Vintage Rally this coming weekend? It's always a good day out with a good range of machinery ranging from traction engines to classic cars. A friend has suggested I take his Wolseley landcrab along on the Saturday as he has it booked for both days. Say hello if you're passing, I'll be the bearded nut with the maroon 18/85. If you are going and...

It is generally solid with only 2 wing repair kits and a spare wheel well needed to get the body acceptable. I have many spares including new rear seat in original colour and 4 doors with all the Super trim too. This car has a FULL service history almost to a fanatical level and all the original...

What to do with a car still on the old-style logbook? by Howard Rose
Hi, A friend of mine has recently found two old Morris Minors (1956 and 1958) in a barn. Unfortunately, the owner has passed away, and his wife has no idea if the cars are registered with the DVLA... However, she has located both cars original card logbooks - does anyone know how we can contact the DVLA to see if the vehicles are listed on the computerised record? If they are, then applying...
