Current Voltage Regulators by David Oneill
Hi All Just a quick message to say thanks to all the readers who replied to my earlier posting. It’s always encouraging to know that there are people out there who will take the time and trouble to pass on their knowledge to others. I have been tied up with work this last week so have not done any more to Daimler. The general consensus appears to be that the regulator should work OK, so I think I...

Starting car after 8 months by Graham Markwell
Due to circumstances we have not started or moved our Triumph Mayflower for eight months, it has stood on the drive where it was parked. What precautions should we take when we try to start it again, I assume that all the oil will have drained down into the sump giving no initial protection to the moving parts ? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Spitfire driveshafts by Mark Edwards
Hello I have just obtained two halfshafts for my Triumph Spitfire 1500 which is needing the rear wheel bearings to be replaced. I thought that i could put these two halfshafts on while i replace the bearings in the original halfshafts, then sell these to recoup at least some of my money while all the while keeping my lovely car on the road. However here i have a problem i was wondering if...

Triumph GT6 performance/spray person required question by Anthony Caira
Dear all A year ago my wife passed away. We had a Gt6 and was with us for 8 years. I lost all interest and put it away for a year. Well, I'm back in the real world again and trailered it to my new home a few weeks ago. With a little TLC and a fair bit of cash I've got it back on the road. A years storage had led to siezed brakes and carbs - but all sorted now. I know I will be condemned for...

How do I store tires/tyres for a very long time??? by Lucas Jensen
I have some new, unused tires which recently went out of production. Because they are so damn good I want to store them so that I can use them in future. The problem with rubber seems to be the fact that the softening agent evaporates with time and makes the tire more hard and brittle. So how can I prevent that from happening? So far I have heard about the following solutions:

Essex V6 Engine Oil by Paul Waites
Hi all, I am about to change the engine oil in my Mk1 3000GT Capri. Each year I have run it on old style 20/50 oil as I’ve figured that was the oil it was manufactured for so I’ll use it. I realise that oil technology moves on so I asked my local motor factors what oil is recommended. It is apparently a 10-30. And reading the container to does say it is recommended for high milage Ford...

Current Voltage Regulators by David Oneill
Hi All I need to replace the Current Voltage Regulator on my 1964 Daimler V8. The Regulator is a 25 Amp Lucas RB340 I have located a new ‘old stock’ unit but on the side of the cover is a label with the wording 25AMP (-) I presume the (-) refers to the unit being negative earth, this is unfortunate as my car is positive earth. I believe the polarity of these can be changed - does anyone...

V8 Flathead Spares by R L Driver
Does anyone know anywhere who do V8 Ford Flathead spares....... Theres Nordian Services , but they dont seem to answer the phone, ever, and so I wonder if they are still around. I'm after a set of exhaust manifold gaskets and it would be a pain getting them from the states, the postage would be more than the parts. Steve the grease

trunnion trouble (how to change) by Matt
Hello, 1955 Standard 8 front suspension. I tried to remove the trunnion by undoing the two 'double threaded' nut things but found that the two male threaded parts that remain (within the brass body) are too long to come out of the wishbone. The two halves of the wishbone are attached by the plate that supports the bottom of the coil spring so I don't think I can separate it.

Bad Earth?? by SpitUK
I have a 1976 Spit 1500. The problem is when I try to start the engine it sounds and turns like there is a bad earth, I have checked over all the earth connection points and cleaned them. The battery is fully charged. This problem doesn't occur all the time, maybe more when the engine is warm? What else could be the problem?

lumenition rev limiter by beng77
I've just tried to install a second hand lumenition ERL-V adjustable rev limiter. It's got three wires, black to earth, red to 12v and brown to the -ve on the coil. After wiring it in it doesn't seem to be limiting the rev's at all no matter where I have the adjustment screw positioned. The engine is a 1760cc crossflow with what I believe to be a Lotus twincam electronic ignition system. The...
