Practical classic for a newbie by
sPoNiX
I'm thinking of buying a classic to use as my everyday transport and
am thinking along the lines of a triumph Dolomite.
Are these a resasonable practical classic or should I look for
something else?

Storing an engine by
Howard Rose
January 1962 A-series 850 Mini engine and 3-synchro gearbox, removed
from the car... what is the best way to store it? Drain the oil?
Fill with oil? I've no idea!
It's going to be in storage for quite a while (I guess 2 years) and I
don't want it to seize up. It's going to be totally rebuilt to
factory spec eventually, but I don't want to cause any more problems!
Cheers!

Legal question by
Pete W.
Any legal experts out there, or anyone with experience of buying an abandoned "barn find"?
The car in question is in a very poor state and has been abandoned for about 15 years. A
notice was placed on it stating that rent was due on the storage and the owner could not
be traced and if was not moved in 7 days......
Anyway, the landowner sold it and now I have the chance of buying it from the guy...

Hearses by
Patrick
Hello
A happy note here!! I've always thought, that I'd like to 'go out' in the
back of a Humber Super Snipe or Hawk, hearse (I remember the horrid Volvo
things my Granny had - no class like a Humber!). Anyway, thought I'd have a
bit of a Google, and sad to see that a lot of them end up banger racing!
Will I have to settle for a Mk II Granada? (Hope not)
P.S Hopefully we're thinking a minimum of...

Coil or magneto ? by
Rich
Hi all, I have heard that magneto's for engines put out a much higher
voltage than a coil, is this true ? and what sort of output could I expect
to get from the mag ?
Can you have to much voltage for a spark plug or are the plugs matched to
the coil / magneto voltage output ?
What is the difference between spark plugs, when they all look the same I
know about temp ranges but how is this achieved?...

Auto Box Volvo Amazon Problems by
EricR
Folks,
My 1966 Amazon has started to cut out when I lift off the power quickly. All
has been fine with the car recently, but this has just started in the last 2
weeks or so.
It seems as if lifting off is stalling the engine, which makes me wonder if
there's an issue with the autobox hampering engine speed when I lift.
'box is a Borg Warner (35 - I believe - 3 speed anyway) So all suggestions

mid to late 1960's car radios by
Andrew Mawson
I'm looking for a working positive earth (or switchable) car radio suitable
to install in a 1965 english classic.
It came with a working Motorola 124 (Long & Medium wave) which is pretty
basic and I'm looking for something a tad better but contemporary with the
car.
Someone refered me to the Vintage Wireless Company in Cheshire but they
never answer their 'phone or reply to emails !
