FS Scimitar - pictures now available by
ANDREW ROBERT BREEN
I've put some recent pictures of the Scimitar up at:
http://users.aber.ac.uk/azb/outside/plum
and will add some interior and engine-bay shots later today.
Honesty compels me to note that there's a bit of drive-line
noise - a prop-shaft bearing, I suspect. Doesn't invalidate
this being a basically good car though. If you have the sapce
and the skill-set to do most of the work on it yourself then

doing a few speed checks with another car. is this legal? someone told me

FS: 1970 Reliant Scimitar SE5 automatic by
ANDREW ROBERT BREEN
I've finally come to the conclusion that 400-mile runs with 1-tonne
tows would be asking a little too much of a 34 year old car, so
my Scimitar is up for sale.
Mechanically it's fine (excellent, I'd venture) - on the last trip
to Scotland it ran beautifully. Engine is as good as an Essex ever
is, old pressure absolutely fine all the way through, running temperature
fine (new head gaskets,...

LPG warning - is this true? by
Mike Foster
http://htdig.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/faq.htm?id=8
Warning: Reader Bruce Purvis has come up with the following vital
information to anyone considering an LPG conversion in the UK: Basically,
our LPG is of inferior quality to LPG in mainland Europe:-
"I have begun enquiries about having na LPG conversion, and the engineer at
a major installer in the area advises that one of the factors to weigh up...

Jensen Healey Info by
Jamezgb
Hi,
I'm very tempted by a Jensen Healey currently for sale on Ebay, I
cannot get to Sheffield to see it so I was wondering if anyone
recognises or has any experience of this car. The owner says that the
only jobs that need doing are a new sun visor and repairing the
drivers seat tilt mechanism, which sounds pretty good to me.
The car is at:

Blasting! by
Pete W.
My new project is going to involve a strip down to the bare chassis. What is the best
treatment for a complete chassis which has rust all over it?
I've heard of sand blasting and bead blasting but which is best?
And can I do it at home?
Loads of other stuff will also need doing so the investment may be worth it.
Thanks
Pete W

Is Restoration for a Novice? by
Paul
I would very much like to buy a decrepit 40-year-old Midget/Sprite
non-runner and restore it. I wouldn't try and restore it to concours;
rather just have something that is quite presentable. I would not buy
a complete wreck, but rather something with the odd rust hole and
blistering paint.
I have no experience of restoration. The mechanical side I feel quite
confident about. However, bodywork...

Morris 803 info needed please by
M.J.
Hi
I'm trying to find ignition timing settings for a marinised BMC 803
engine (as fitted to the early minis/minors and Austin A35s). The
engine has been recently overhauled and I believe it has been fitted
with an unleaded cylinder head so would it be necesssary to retard the
ignition to run on u/l fuel?
I also need contact breaker and plug gap settings. Could anybody
please assist?

"Union" keys by
Howard Rose
Neither of my Mini's (1962 and 1964) have keys. One car has a key
that works (but the key number doesn't match the lock number), and the
other has none.
Is there any supplier of keys? Preferably, I would like to find
original "Union" brand keys, since that is what they had originally.
They are "FS" type.
Any ideas? Thanks :-)
