PCD for Triumph Hubs? by Dubzi
I have a set of 15" Wire wheels with splined hubs that definitely fit on the Herald "range" of vehicles. Does anyone know if they will fit on any of the TR "range" (pre 7!), or will it be a case of new splines?

Ford Essex Engines. by T.Gee
Hi all. I'm looking for information regarding the 3 ltr. Ford Essex engine sump capacity and dip sticks. Did the sump capacity change for the various uses that the engine was put to? I'm also aware that there was an "earlier" engine with the oil dip stick at the front of the engine followed by a "later" one with the dip stick on the left hand side of the engine (as you look at the engine front...

Site for cross-referencing parts? by Licensed to Quill
Does anyone know if there are any sites around for cross-referencing car parts? I am looking for a right hand rear orange/red lens for the 1984 Silver Spur light assembly which I have to buy for somebody who broke one. (He's doing me a BIG favour but possibly not big enough for me to pay RR prices) I can't imagine that it was only used on that car. I usually find that companies like Rolls or...

Opinions please... by JackH
....on a Mercedes 190e 2.6. I've cross posted this to the classics group, as apparently some insurers will do classic insurance on them now (not sure if they meet my definition of a classic just yet though). I've seen what looks like a very original and, more importantly, 'bling free' example, and as I'm hankering after a sensible six pot again, I'm considering one of these as my little bit of...

should I get servicing parts from Ford or motor factor? by jaap
Hi there, I am going to attempt a DIY service on my Capri 280. Do we think I should go to Ford for my various filters and other service items, or would I be just as good going to a Motor factor's, who, I presume, will sell me cheaper non-Ford items. Many thanks for any advice. --

Cars That Have Become Valuable by Peter Adams
George Milligen of Stalham, Norfolk, died earlier this year at the age of 94, and today his collection of 38 cars is to be auctioned by Bonhams. The sale is expected to raise £4 million. Milligen assembled his collection over 70 years. It includes a 1929 Mercedes Benz 7.1-litre SSK, one of only 30 made. Milligen bought it during the war for £400. It has attracted the interest of buyers all over...

Wheel Balancing by Ray Allden
Hi, Can anyone help me please? I've eventually got the MGA on the road after it's rebuild (4 1/2 years) I cannot find anyone locally in the Birmingham area that balances wheels dynamically (on the car). I'm getting vibration and wheel wobble that makes it very uncomfortable at 50mph. The cars only done 387 miles since completion so I won't open it up just yet but I want it ready for it. I would...

Lancia Flavia thoughts? by Willy Eckerslyke
The last thing I need right now is another classic, but an ad on our works intranet has tickled my curiosity enough for me to take a look, if only because of the words "free to collector" (though this appears to be the subject of dispute between the owner and his wife!). All I know is that it's a 1970's Lancia Flavia which has been sitting in a garage for a number of years. I've yet to see...

MOT emissions for an LPG classic by Ian Johnston
Hi Folks, I'm just getting the DS through its MOT at the moment. Nothing much to worry about (why do headlamps choose the trip to the testing station to fail?) except emissions. I was running on LPG when I got there, so they tested it as LPG. CO was fine - very low, in fact - but hydrocarbons were 2900ppm as against the permissable 1200ppm. Generally the LPG setup seems to be working well...

White stuff in the carburettor mystery by GBH
A few weeks ago I moved my E-Type Jag (4.2) (which has had a recent history of baffling starting problems) after it had been laid up for several months to our new house and garage. It just about made it having ground to a halt on the short journey several times. After a further delay of a few weeks I have now investigated the problem. I initially suspected a fuel problem and checked out the fuel...
