yet another Number plate question by
Les Ashton
I purchased a lovely 1936 Morris 10/4 back in April.
The previous owner kept the number plate for nostalgic reasons (the car
had been in his family since new)
DVLA in their wisdom issued a number in the format 123 ABC.
To me this is not age related to the car.
What's the chances of getting them to issue a number in the format ABC

I found this great little site by
I found this great little site
I found this great little site. I signed up two weeks ago and got 2 Disney tickets and this week they are sending me 2 Universal Studios tickets. Here's the link http://66.219.102.40/ and by the way I am a real person, this is my real email address. I'm not a spammer and didn't appreciate the nasty email I got last time I tried to post this link.
Thanks,...

FS: Vauxhall FD and FE Victor/Ventora Manuals by
Pete W
I am currently having a clearout to make room for bits of MG.
I have a set of five GM workshop manuals for the FD Victor and Ventora
model. The bodywork one is a little dog eared along the spine but all the
info is clear and the rest are in good condition.
The numbers a TS 882, 883, 884, 885, and 886.
I also have the later set for the FE Nos: TS1043, 1044, 1045, 1046, 1047.

Topping up power steering by
Michael Kilpatrick
Is it normal for most makes and models of cars to have to spend a bit of
time working the power steering from full lock left to right in order to
get the hydraulic fluid bled, topped up and circulating properly?
Or should I be *really* ****ed off that the local garage couldn't be
bothered to do it properly after working on a car of mine? I've had to
put 0.3litres in to get the system full...

V5, MOT, REGISTRATION & EXPORT QUESTIONS by
akia
Hi,
I see a number of Morris Minors on ebay... most of course '68 and before
(a requirement to import a register a car into the US with minimal
problems).
I see references to "V5" documents... what is this?
MOT is the inspection... I'd need a car with a good MOT since I'd be
driving it for a while before I ship it back to the states.

Monochrome number plates by
Budgie
Just spotted a brand-new BMW 4x4 with (presumably) a personalised plate in
the form ABC 123 J. The plates are white characters on black background.
Is that correct? I'd have thought the old-style plates would be permitted
through the age of the car, rather than the age of the registration.

Rotax dynamos by
Geoff
Hello. Does anybody here know about Rotax 3-brush dynamos? I'd like to
increase the charging rate. I know how you do it, by moving the third
brush, but in which direction and by how much? I'm not over ambitious;
13 amps to about 16-ish amps would do. It's laziness really, I can
experiment, but I can't do anything with the dynamo in situ, and it's a
real pain to remove it each time.
Thanks in...

1975 Rover P6 2200SC Automatic by
fishman
Hi
I've the car in the subject. It is totally original, and in very good
condition with no welding anywhere. It looks like it might have been
resprayed perhaps at one point because some of the top coat of paint seems
to be peeling, revealing more paint of the same colour beneath. Perhaps this
is just how they did things back then though.
I'm going to be selling this car soon. Classic...

South-East London repairs? by
Emily Spankratchet
Hello,
I've just moved to South-East London and my Spitfire, with impeccable
timing, is suffering from intermittent loss of power. I've moved too
far to take it back to my old garage. Can anyone suggest a competent
garage to lavish some TLC on the poor thing? The closer to the
Ladywell/Lewisham/Catford area, the better - if it's being
uncooperative I'll have to have it towed there.
Thanks in...

Winter Storage Tips? by
Jonathan McCormack
OK, you could argue my car isn't a classic as it's not that old, but it's
precious to me :)
I have a 1991 Eunos Roadster that for the last 2 years I have SORNed from
October to about March. And every year it's come out a little manky, with
a little rust somewhere. I don't have a garage attached to my house, I
rent one from the Housing Executive (Northern Ireland version of a local
Council...

Transporting a non-roller? by
Neil
Anybody know of any companies that will transport a car even though it
won't roll?
I have a Stag that I need to move from Devon to Surrey. However, the
car has been off the road for a couple of years (unloved and
unwanted), and as a result the gearbox is now well and truly seized.
Alternatively, anybody know a quick and easy way to unsieze the
gearbox???

How about a set of those under-wheel skates from Machine Mart et al ?
You'll be wanting them later for moving it around the workshop anyway.
If you're moving it on a beavertail, just drag it up with the winch.
The tyres will be toast anyway, Blue polypropylene tarp (or Ikea
carrier bag) makes a good dragging sled across...
