Stop and go? Nothing new! by mrcheerful .
"Geoff Mackenzie" wrote in message ... Just skimmed through a road test of the latest Citroen something-or-other in a Sunday paper (OK, it's Tuesday, I'm a slow reader). Apparently they have this wonderful fuel-saving innovation. When you stop at traffic lights the engine cuts out. When the lights change to...

Identification of Renault headlamp by Jonathan Halsall
I had a post-'85 Renault 5 for which several years ago the headlamp I've just found in my garage was bought for in error. If someone in-the-know can confirm that the one I have is for a pre-'85 Renault 5 I'd be very grateful. Some pictures of the headlamp: www.geocities.com/the_wigan_pie_eater/renault/headlamp1.jpg (29kb) www.geocities.com/the_wigan_pie_eater/renault/headlamp2.jpg (21kb)

The Police video is quite convincing by AndreaWellness
I felt the same way about it myself until I went to the website. They have some pretty convincing news video reports from USA. One in particular (Fox News) was quite interesting, it featured the Colarado Police actually testing it under there own conditions and quite openly proclaiming that their cameras could not pick up the plate registration after the spray was used. Who knows, but I always...

Several advertise in Practical classics. One is Earlpart 01773 719504. But a decent motor factor will probably still be able to get these sort of parts. See AT http://www.earl-part.co.uk

Capri heater fan by Jonathan Halsall
I believe that the heater fan on a Mk3 Capri packing in is quite a common problem, so before I pull the dash apart perhaps someone can suggest a likely cause / first place to check? I have made sure that the connectors in the back of the switch on the dash are connected properly and the fuse is ok. It stopped working during the summer while on full blast during a football match traffic jam and...

King Pins, what steel? by Alistair Ross
Need to make some king pins for a pre war car, simple 5/8" dia x 4" length with an oil groove. A hardness test on the old pin shows 598 Rock. Im told that 'silver steel' is not sutable for king pins. We have some off cuts of EN8/16/32 kicking around the shop. Will any of these do? also should they be surface hardened? or through hard and temper back? thanks......ttfn.....Alistair

advice in importing a classic from USA by Stefano Guglia
I wanted to buy a car and import in my coutry (Italy). Italy has no rules in favour of vintage and classic cars, so customs and VAT are the same for cars of any age (35% of declared value total). It was told to me that there are some EC countries with different rules, i.e. UK customs+VAT in this case (older than 25) are about 5% total. Am I misinformed? there are then other details like the...
