Moto-Lita Steering Wheel by michael musgrave
Hi Group, I was sorting my father's garage out and I discovered a 14" wooden riveted steering wheel. It is flat (rather than being dished) and three spoked. Each spoke has four holes. The boss surround has nine screws. I will be very pleased to find out which car my father took this from. He died a few years ago, so obviously I can't ask him. He has numerous bits around his garage, but even the...

Moto Lita by Hamish
Michael, I am restoring a Lotus Elan +2 and have recently bought a new Motolita leather rim. They (Moto Lita) still make wood rims. Have a look on their site and/or phone them. They're a good bunch of guys and'll let you know all about the steering wheel. Four holes in the spokes is probably something to do with the diameter of the wheel. My wheel is 14" dia and has 3 holes. Moto Lita...

Thoughts please on electrical fault by Kieran Turner
Hi group, I'm considering (more with heart than head) buying a fastback Sunbeam Alpine c.1973. The vendor tells me it has a weird electrical problem and I'm keen to get some opinions about what it might be before I lumber myself with the problem. I think I'm pretty good with electrics, so will be able to cope with the fix, but initial diagnosis can be a bugger as we all know... ;)

Q cars by John Redman
What utterly bog-standard looking motor would you most like to soup up to an evil extent, and why? Mine would be (sorry 'bout this) Mk 1 Orion, because I had a 1.6i new as my first ever car. I'd want the RS Turbo engine in it with suspension and brake mods to match but with the exterior left completely standard. Even now I cannot explain why. Nostalgia tempered with recognition that they...

Classic Car Insurance II by Dave Plowman (News)
I've just had the renewal in for the SD1 and it's gone up again by considerably more than inflation. And I've never claimed. I'm with Hall & Clark and they use the RAC, but say they're going to change. But not soon enough for me. Any suggestions for classic insurance where I can get an online quote? Happy with restricted mileage. --

Triumph TR7 by Paul
Walking back from work to my car this afternoon I noticed a silver/light grey TR7 rolling up to some traffic lights. I'm not a classic car enthusiast, by any means, but I was struck by how good it still looks. I think svelte would be the right word. Not only that, but it still looks modern. It could easily have passed itself off as a recently produced model to someone who did'nt recognise it as...

Any Morris Oxford enthusiasts near Wigan? by Eddie
Hi, After a couple of decades driving company Euro-boxes, and a 40th birthday fast approaching, I've got a hankering for some nostalgia and an old Morris Oxford. (I remember my dad having a light blue Series V, around 1970) My romantic notion is to get something like a Series V or VI, already in good condition, stick it in my mum's garage and get it out at weekends for a spot of tinkering and...

rear axle cleaning.. by Ernest Bilko

The gear-oil I fill into that acle is yellowish out of the bottle.. After a short time in the axle, it is black. So I think many mall dimension wear-particles are present in the axle.
