Split circuit master cylinder by
Sla#s
Anyone know of a non-servo tandem split circuit master cylinder?
I'm trying to fit a diagonal split circuit system to a Daimler 250 V8. It
came with a single circuit system that used a remote servo and a non-servo
7/8" master cylinder.
Normally one would have to fit two servos to do this, however I've found a
double acting servo to replace the old single one but I can't find a non-
servo...

Where to check gearbox oil level on a '78 Spitfire ? by
paul_silverman@mail.com
I get the impression from reading the Triumph Spitfire 1500 Handbook
that the only way to check the gearbox (transmission) oil is to go
under the car. Is there a gauge elsewhere?
Thanks
Paul

Painting pointers website update by
sdhull@btinternet.com
It has been quite a while since I updated my website at:
http://www.stephen.hull.btinternet.co.uk/ anyway I've uploaded a new
page: http://www.stephen.hull.btinternet.co.uk/traditional.html which
may be of particular interest to people wanting to know the old methods
of traditional coachpainting, its quite comprehensive and will make a
lengthy read.
Enjoy
Stephen.

Zodiac Executive MkIV Valuation please! by
Pete M[_4_]
No pics yet I'm afraid, but I've been offered something which made me
think "Hmm, Auto****e or alright?"
1969 Zodiac Executive in Browny Goldy Beige Metallic (you know the
colour), 60,000 miles, old MOTs and bills and stuff, allegedly close to
immaculate. Described as being "Very tidy indeed". Manual, 3.0 Essex,
supposedly a really tidy example. MOT'd and taxed etc.
What do these things...

Little plastic bits needed.Arrgh. by
Pete M[_4_]
Thought this is as good a place to ask as any.
On the Jensen (Interceptor III) master cylinder there are two little
plastic gubbins that go into the master cylinder that the hoses going to
the remote brake fluid resevoir connect on to.
I need one. Sharpish. What else uses the remote resevoir system and
SOEnglish brakes?
and when they're 35 years old, mega fragile...

Gluttons for Punishment? by
Roger
I was chatting to a neighbour over the garden wall last Sunday morning
when a convoy of small 30s saloons crawled up our apology for a road 30
yards or more away. What struck me even at that distance was how bright
their paintwork looked. It must haven taken absolutely hours of
polishing to achieve the sort of finish that hints at the need for
sunglasses to even look in that direction.
Some...

My gremlins are back by
Jim Warren
After I bought my Minor 1000, I had a lot of trouble because it wouldn't
start when hot. I thought I had fixed it, it has been starting first
time and I have been driving around happily for nearly a year. Until
yesterday.
I got stuck in a traffic queue. The sort where you creep forward one
car's length every so often. After about a quarter of an hour I got to
the front of the queue - an...

Are Mountney/Astrali steering wheels interchangeable? by
nona
As per the subject. I have an 11" Astrali but I'm struggling to turn it and
want to go to 13". There seems plenty of choice on Ebay, but I'm wondering
if those 6 small holes and the large centre hole will line up? (I want to
leave the boss in place).
Thanks for any help.

1965 for seatbelts, but 3 point fixing? by
nona
I believe 1965 was when fitting seatbelts in the front was made compulsary
for new cars. Was it 3 point fixing from the start - or were some cars
fitted with lap straps only? If so when did 3 point fixing become
compulsary?
Thanks for any info.

Borderline classic - BMW 520i E28 by
Willy Eckerslyke
Not sure what to do with this...
I've lumbered myself with sorting out and disposing of my
father-in-law's 1984 BMW. It belonged to his father from almost new and
has only done 48,000 miles, but has been standing for the last 5 years.
Bodywork is excellent, so it'd be easy to recommission and get back on
the road as a very tidy car.
But the costs don't seem to add up.
It needs a full exhaust...

VW auto transmission - no drive by
andyv
I've had the engine out of my 79 VW camper to redo the oil seals.
Whilst out I also removed the torque converter of the automatic
transmission and did the seal in that too.
Now on reassembly, I have no drive. The torque converter has been
reconnected and spins OK with the engine running. Also I've checked
the fluid.
All I've done is slide the torque converter out off the 3 sets of
concentric...

Question on Jags
*******************************
I am not knowledgeable on car audio systems at all.
I have a few questions:
1. What has a greater impact on the sound quality of a car audio
system ?
Is it the speakers or the sound unit ie CD changer/player/radio ?

MK1 Transit carburettor by
Fred[_2_]
I have a 1700cc Transit which needs a new carb urgently in order to move it.
The mounting flange seems the same as a range of carbs fitted to Fords but I
was wondering if the Ford VV would fit, before I get one?
Any further suggestions without spending to much money!!??

Unleaded additive - what's your favourite? by
Willy Eckerslyke
About time I got myself a decent supply of unleaded additive for the
Rover (2000TC). Is Castrol Valvemaster Plus still the tipple of choice?
Where do you buy it?
Another 2000TC owning colleague wants to split a bulk purchase so we're
looking to save a few quid. The only local supplier is Halfrauds, who
charge over 14quid per 250ml.
BTW, these Rovers benefit from the octane boost, hence the...

Wossat? by
Geoff Mackenzie
Just curious - Sunday Times Magazine22/3/09, Page 60 - just wonder what the
car is? Probably American, presumably two door judging by thr lerngth of
the visible one, very uncomfortable treatment around the C pillar (or should
that be B as there's only two of them) and what looks like lots of clip-on
plastic trim around the wheel arches and door frame. Massive front
overhang. Olds Toronado? ...
