Vauxhall steering wheels by
Simon H
Err... probably the wrong group but I know that there are a lot of car wise
peeps here, so here goes anyway...
Not quite a classic but I am looking for a smaller steering wheel for a B
reg Vauxhall Carlton. Does anybody know if the smaller, older Vauxhalls like
(cough) Astras and (cough, cough) Novas have the same splines / fittings as
the Carlton? I hope so. I'm not too bothered about...

*******s. by
Dave Plowman (News)
They wrote off a very respectable Zephyr MkII on 'The Royal' tonight. Not
the usual cutaway where we find the car with 'steam' coming out of it and
covered in mud, but well and truly f**ked. The 'dead' lovey was only
acting, but the car wasn't. *******s.

WTD Tow by
Annteak
Yep I need a tow, anyone fancy doing a favour for a poor Vauxhall viva
owner?
The car is in Melton Mowbray and I live in Nuneaton. Its nota runner so
cannot move on to and off a car ramp. but the brakes do work. Doesn't have a
MOT so cannot be towed legally on a dolly.
Ideas and offers welcome.

Help needed with Old VW Engine by
Big Belly
Hi all,
I have just tried to start my old 1972 VW air cooled motor after the winter
and a problem has developed which is baffling me.
I have managed to start the vehicle but it appears to only be running on the
two cylinders on the left bank (cylinders 2 and 3). This side of the engine
is getting warm and a nice colour is showing in the exhaust.
The other side however, (cylinders 1 and 4) are...

brakes Rover P4: mystery! Help wanted.. by
rill2@verwijderdit.nl
Hi,
I need help in solving a serious problem with my car.
I do use a Rover P4 100 from 1961 as a nearly daily driver.
It is the 6 cylinder, with rear drum and front disk brakes.
It is a rhd-car.
About 2 years ago I rebuild the front brake calipers with new
stainless steel pistons, new seals and new dustcovers.

Stag Clutch by
Dave Plowman (News)
Another tale of woe from my bother. He's having a go at sorting his Stag,
and the main job is a new clutch. Engine and box out ok. But on removing
the old clutch he found one set screw missing, and the rest not matching,
some being bolts. :-( Investigation showed that some had been tapped
(badly) to accept oversize set scews. Also, the dowels weren't in the
flywheel, but welded to the cover. And...

Starting a Golf GTI by
Willy Eckerslyke
Just about a classic I suppose - I've lumbered myself with a MK2 Golf
GTI 8v scrapper in the hope of making a few bucks selling bits of it on
Ebay. Trouble is, it's been standing a while and won't start, which
devalues the running gear somewhat.
It's a fuel issue - even after turning on the starter for a while, the
plugs are dry and don't smell of petrol. Petrol is getting to the engine
end...

1949 Austin A90 Convertible for sale by
tlaferriere
What a cool car this is. It runs, drives, stops, cools, charges. I took
it for a ride today. Was cruising nicely at about 45 MPH, once I
figured out how to shift the darn thing. It has a 4 speed on the
column. This is the ultimate barn find. Have registrations dating back
to 1955. Restore or enjoy as is! From what I have read, there were only
350 of these imported into the USA.
See...

Oil Change. by
Dave Plowman (News)
The SD1 was well past it's annual oil change date - although well within
the mileage limit. So decided to get it done this week, as I'm off. But
the weather hasn't been too good, and I'm also getting too old to crawl
around on the street in the damp. :-)
So remembering a National ad, I phoned them up. About 20 quid they said,
using Duckham's semi synth.
So I went round to the branch. No filter...

OT: VW Parts? by
Bill Davies
Certainly not a classic, but the knowledgebase here is far greater than in
the wider community......
Big problem with our 1994 VW Passat 2.0 CL. Baically, the engine cuts out
randomly at any time until it's fully warmed up. It can go for weeks without
any problems, then fail every time the engine is cold or not fully warm, day
after day. After anything from 20 seconds to about 5 minutes the fault...
