Door rubber restorer? by
Doki
I seem to remember seeing ads for door / window rubber restorer somewhere.
Does the stuff work or is it cack? I'm thinking of 15 year old rubbers on a
MK2 golf that are getting a bit ropey (window scraper and door seal
specifically).

seized axle plug by
shane
Hi, I want to top the the oil up in a rear axle, as previously it was
leaking, but the filler plug is seized.
Someone has tried to remove it before slightly rounding the nut so that
now a socket will not fit.
I have brought some stillsons, but has anyone got any tips to make it
easier to get off without damaging the plug, for example would heating
the plug up first help?

Ford part number to vehicle id please. by
mrcheerful .
I am having a clear out and I have come across a new McPherson type
suspension leg for a Ford. Trouble is, that I don't know what it fits, I
could hazard a guess at Capri, but does anyone know what it really fits: It
is a Fitchel and Sachs leg marked with a big L and the numbers:
TF32x152A

Any ideas please?

European breakdown cover by
md
There was a thread a little while ago about this but it ended up in a
discussion about insurers own breakdown cover. My insurer doesnt offer this,
and my current breakdown cover mob dont either, so I started ringing round
to cover a 9 day trip to France for the Minors On Tour event next weekend.
The ONLY mob prepared to quote are so far the AA, with a rather entertaining
offer of £89 for the...

austin metro by
rill2@verwijderdit.nl
Hi,
I can buy a 1989 Austin Metro car.
The Haynes manual I saw, mentions the need for consultation of a
Rover dealer when the suspension system needs to be filled up, or when
work on the suspension is needed and the system has to be
depressurized.
Regarding the situation around the Rover make, is it unwise to get
this car??

Anglesey 22nd, 23rd May. by
Willy Eckerslyke
Anyone thinking of visiting the Anglesey Steam Rally (or Vintage Rally
or whatever it's called) this next weekend?
I'll be there on the Saturday with my Triumph Vitesse (yellow saloon
with white stripe), so say come over and say hello.
If you haven't visited before, it's a good show with a mix of machinery
from traction engines through vintage to classic cars, tractors
commercials, etc. It's...

Recommended lubricant for accelerator cable? by
S1500
Brand new accelerator cable(bought from a bike shop), on a '79 Spitfire,
Weber carb.
After doing away with the old ZS carb linkage retrofitted on the Weber,
I had to get a new cable. But, as being a new cable, it sticks. WHat's
the best way to lube it?
Was advised against wd-40. Have graphite. Weather's been bad so I haven'
t had a chance to apply it yet.

Paint inside an engine sump? by
Steve Musgrave
I've just cleaned years of muck out of the inside of a Rover V8 sump - and
stripped the black paint off most of it in the process. Now, do I leave it
as bare steel and risk some rust until oil has coated it again, or do I
paint it and risk the heat and oils dislodging paint flakes and potentially
clogging the oilways when the engine reaches working temperature?
Logically I suppose I should...

A Few Quid, on account of them being common names. Paintwork condition
is significant too.
However they're a funny size - I've never seen them that big before.
That's 3 jerrycans! Might have some extra rarity value on that account.
