Princess (wedge) available? by
Michael Kilpatrick
I'm considering, if it's possible to find one, getting a Austin (or
Leyland, I think to be more accurate) Princess for my wife. A 2000HL or
2000HLS Princess 2, which I think means circa 1978-1981.
I've seen that there are one or two still about in good shape but they
must be pretty rare now. Anybody seen one? I had one (HCA 100T) when I
was a student in 1992, and loved it. Mind you, that was...

Music in a Beetle by
NickNoxx
My wife has just bought a 1972 Beetle in 'as new' condition. One owner
from new and garaged it's whole life this 35 year old car has done just
38k miles.
She'd like to get some music but as the interior is so perfect doesn't
want to drill any holes so we're looking for some sort of mp3
player/dock/amp/speaker combo that could be sited under the front seat
(say) (ideally with a remote...

For Sale: Austin Healey BJ7 MKIIa 3000 1963 BRG by
waterdell@hotmail.com
Dear Classic enthusiasts,
Just to alert anyone out there who might be interested to know that
this Healey is back on the market. Husband has now finally decided to
let her go to a new home, but serious buyers only please. We will
consider all realistic offers as the car was restored 10 years ago and
hasn't had major works undertaken since then, so would suit anyone
wanting a 'project'. We can...

BNP man to be shunned in London assembly by
St Georges Day April 23rd
The British National Party's sole member of the London Assembly will
become a "pariah" as the major parties agree to shun him. As he
launched into a victory speech at City Hall early yesterday, other
politicians left the stage in protest.

Clutch cover ID: AP HE 1074 by
Ian
Folks,
I bought a NOS Herald clutch on eBay. Unfortunately, it has come with
the wrong cover plate in the box. No problem, as the seller has
refunded me, but I was wondering if anyone could identify it.
It seems to be an AP HE 1074. Looks like 7" diameter, and the friction
surface is a long way ( 1/2") below the mounting flanges, so it looks
as if it's for something with the clutch well...

Silicone brake fluid by
Ian
Dear All,
I've just replaced almost the entire braking system on my Herald:
calipers, wheel and master cylinders, hoses and some pipework. Now
would therefore be a good time to change to silicone brake fluid, if
I'm going to do it.
What do you all think? Worthwhile for a car which will be doing light
summer duty only?

Frogeye clutch? by
whammy
Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the price of replacing the
clutch in a frogeye (ie having a commercial garage do the work)? The
car has the 948cc engine which I believe has to come out of the car to
change the clutch?
Are there are sprite specialists in Norfolk (UK)?
Thanks in advance...
Jerry

Does anyone want a free car? by
Jim Warren
Those who have followed my earlier thread might be interested in what
happened next.
I took the 2000 in for its MOT, and they rang me a couple of hours later
to say that there was so much wrong with it that it wasn't worth them
doing a full MOT, so would I like to pay them a small sum for their time
so far and collect the car. Which I did.
But I asked them for a list of what they had found...

Electrolytic ali cleaning by
Geoff Mackenzie
I've got some ali castings which are an absolute bugger to clean - all nooks
and crannies, even a toothbrush won't do the job. Have heard rumours of an
electrolytic process which sounds ideal, but can't find out anything
further.
Anything known? Does it work? Where can I get it done?
TIA,
Geoff MacK

Transporting a rolling chassis by

Can anyone think of a reasonably affordable way of getting a Herald

affordable" I mean "cheaper than a car transport company" or possibly
"a cheap car transport company" ...

Sacrilege - Rover P6 turbo diesel? by
Willy Eckerslyke
Those of a sensitive nature may prefer to look away now.
I've just got myself a P6 spares car that, as is the nature of these
things, turns out to be too good to break for spares.
It's a 1972 2000TC in dog**** brown (Tobacco Leaf), with paint that's
thick and horrid. It's fitted with a single carb and the engine has
loads of bits missing (camshaft, side panel bolts, etc). But the base
unit's...

Scion looking to expand by
john
Scion sales have hit a slump in the last 17 months, with a peak of
175,000 units sold in 2006, the youth-marketed brand's sales have
dipped to 130,000 vehicles last year. The solution will likely come
from three new vehicles to be released in the next few years. Scion's
veep, Jack Hollis, told Automotive News in an interview during the Big
Apple bash, that Scion is "studying two or three models...

Talbot or Delahaye? 1930's 1940's coupe by
hackleton@hotmail.com
http://www.oldstox.com/images/Talbor%20or%20Delahaye.jpg
Can anyone identify this car? It was in a stock-car race in France
about 1958. Looks like custom coachwork, but is it a Talbot-Lago or
a Delahaye?
And, are there any newsgroups specifically for 1930's/1940's cars?
Please post any answers here. Thanks!

Guinness domino cars by
Phil[_3_]
Anyone managed to identify any of the cars in the Guinnes 'domino
topple' advert?
Number 3 has a distinctly BMC Farina look -- the bonnet shape suggests
Riley/Wolseley? Difficult to get a good look and there's lots of motion
blur.
