Got the SD1 back. by Dave Plowman (News)
Picked it up this morning. New door skins fitted to some secondhand doors that were better than the originals, frame wise. I'll need to make or source some shims to get the best fit. Think it will take the best part of a week to fit everything back on properly. Total re-spray and new windscreen fitted 1710 squids. I supplied all the panels. Paint finish is pretty good. Modern water based stuff....

XP Home - LAN OK but unable to access internet by Jeremy
New computer here, XP Home installed - plugged into the LAN and can ping and be pinged but cannot get onto internet (neither via web browser, ping etc.) The firewall (running on a Linux server) doesn't restrict the IP address as far as I can see. Other machines on the netwrok are accessing internet without any problems. Is there some setting in XP Home one needs to tick in order to be...

Inadvertently split brake caliper by Steve Musgrave
In error I loosened the wrong bolts on an MGB front caliper aiming to take it off the car, but I have managed to loosen the two halves with a leak of fluid. I know this is something I should not have done but what can I do about it? How are the two parts of calipers reassembled after refurbs to prevent leaks: is a sealing goo like Locktite used or are the bolts just screwed up and what...

Caravanning Now by Richard Cole
Just one of my occasional reminders for u.r.c readers new and old. Most of the frequently asked questions have already been answered. On http://www.caravanningnow.co.uk I've compiled the answers to most of the questions that are regularly asked here. The only question I don't and won't post on is caravan insurance as my wages are paid by an insurance company.

steering column to rack connection? by SHC
Hello, I just bought a mini/metro based beach buggy car (1971 Siva Moonbug) and I'm a little concerned about the steering. The end of the inner shaft of the steering column is directly bolted to a pinch block on the pinnion of the steering rack. It works fine, but I'm concerned that any flexing or misalignment of the steering column must be stressing the joints/bearings - possibly leading to...

Redhill Steam Fair by Geoff Mackenzie
This coming weekend, Redhill Steam Fair. Just opposite Redhill Aerodrome (Surrey). Usual mixture of traction and stationary engines, assorted interesting cars, fairground - including an utterly terrifying steam roundabout - arts and crafts stalls, all that good stuff. Tends to end the day rather well when all the traction engines fire up and appear over the crest of a ridge - I'm not a steam...

Coach lines by Dave Plowman (News)
Hopefully, I get the SD1 back tomorrow after a full respray. But I didn't specify they did the dual coach lines (gold), so what are the options? Rimmers charge a lot of money for the originals. -- *The modem is the message * Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound.

FS: Tons of new antique car parts by wicks
Hello Vintage Car Buffs. My wife and I just bought an auto parts store in rural Montana. It is a very neat store. It has been in continous operation since the 1920's and still has literally tons of inventory. We are selling this off as fast as we can so we can pay down the loan on the store and purchase newer stock. At one time the place was a Chevy dealership in the 30's and 40's and has...

Bloody hazard warning switch in the Jensen has packed up. Well, fallen apart. Anyone got any clues as to what the Interceptor III shares its switches with? Old Lucas job, rectangular, rocker style, similar to S3 XJ window switch to look at.
