British Makes by
britishmm
Having only just discovered this group I am wondering if the earlier
topic of this name ever came to a conclusion. I currently have
identified 1041 British car manufacturers (up to 1960).
I would be interested to know I am missing any (www.britishmm.co.uk).

tractor alternator by

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for converting an old tractor wiring

Boy, are you in the wrong forum. IIR anything, the positive becomes
negative to start with and then you have a big deal with the earth
wires.
There was also something about heat sinks and rectifiers -or was that
just the good old days?

Alluminium wiring. by
Dave Plowman (News)
A thread on a US newsgroup suggested that things like TR4s had aluminium
wiring - or at least that it was common with Lucas electrics on cars of
that era. Now I've never seen aluminium wiring on any Lucas equipped car
despite just about every one I've owned from the '60s being so.

Re-chromed bumpers question by
roverowner
I am soon to get my bumpers and other bits back from the re-chromers and
wonder what finish I should apply to the "non-polished" side of the bumpers
and overiders, if anything is needed at all.
Thanks.

Reversing Lights on Escorts by
Matt
Hi guys,
Does anybody know what the laws are on reversing lights?
I have a 1974 MK1 Escort XL and I haven't got reversing lights on it and im
not sure if there has ever been any on and so I would like to know if by law
I need them for this model and age of car. (Just because there arent any on
at the moment may not necessarily mean that there has never been any on.)
Cheers,

Lee Griffiths
I've a set of blasted Triumph Dolomite Sprint alloys. Question is do I
need to use special primer to bond to alloy. I don't want to have to
repaint them in a few years when it all flakes off :|

Fixing Door Cards by
Matt
Hi guys,
Im wondering if anyone knows the best way to fasten door cards on. I have
cut out some new ones for myself without any holes at present but the holes
in the door are about 8mm which is a bit too wide for rivets, and screws or
bolts will probably look a bit bulky.
My best thought so far is to drill new smaller holes in the door and use
rivets but can anyone come up with any better...

I have a Herald 12/50 going free in south west Scotland. Good chassis
and interior. New sunroof. Stainless exhaust. Good GRP front end.Needs
engine (supplied) fitted - could be done while collecting - and new

Solemn undertaking not to break it required. Cash help towards costs
for young enthusiast wanting first classic (ie even less than free to

Anyone fancy a Stag? by
RichardK
One of the people I work with has a Stag - BMIH certificate for the
originality, rebuilt engine 2,000 miles ago (but, that's about a decade
or more)... it hasn't been used for a LONG time, but has been stored
under cover.
It is apparently original, though, and has good sills, doors etc, but
might need wings.
It's an automatic.
