Trabant by
Jim Warren
Does anybody know a reliable way of establishing the year of manufacture of
a Trabant?
A friend of mine has just obtained one, which he believes was stored for
some time between manufacture and registration. He knows the date of
registration, but of course the Historic Vehicles class is based on date of
manufacture.

Gardner diesel engines by
Bret Ludwig
What cars are still running over there with Gardners under the
"bonnet"? I think they are a really fascinating device. So is the
ferrari V12, but it's going for stupid money.

Brand new Herald 13/60 bonnet for auction by
Ian Johnston
Hi Folks,
I just found a new steel 13/60 bonnet which I had forgotten about and
don't want and which is therefore up for auction on eBay as item
number 4644449945.
The bad news is that the bloke I bought it from painted it in
Hammerite, damaged the left wing and let the front seam rust by
storing it nose down. The good news is that everything else -
right-hand wing inner and outer...

Engine fault second opinion by
Andy Luckman (AJL Electronics)
Got a Reliant 850cc in for some work...
The owner put 50% diesel in my mistake and then to compound it, allowed
someone to alter the ignition timing etc "to get him home". He drove a
number of miles on full choke as it was the only way it would run after this
"modification".
I have emptied and cleaned out the tank, reset the points gap and timing,
then reset the mixture. It was running...

Getting cement off paintwork... by
Simon H
Has anybody got any sensible, affordable (for affordable, read 'free')
suggestions for removing small blobs of cement from car paintwork? I've just
acquired a car that has been too close to some building work and has a light
splattering of cement on one side. I don't want to just wipe / scrape at the
stuff for fear of damaging the paint 'too much'. OK, this 1993 Skoda Favorit
isn't exactly a...

I hope this is the right group for this question/request, if not please

Advice on car purchase by
Gordon
I'm looking for advice on getting a classic car for everyday use.
The factors are these:
I only drive about 3-4000 miles a year
I don't work so running costs (ie Tax and Insurance are important)
I can do all my own servicing and reasonable major repairs (having had an MG
Midget)
Must be able to carry dogs.
Based on these parameters I am looking at spending up to £6k on a GOOD
semi/fully...

P6 value? by
Willy Eckerslyke
Anyone have any thoughts about the value of a very straight, tax exempt
P6 Rover 2000TC with an MOT until October?
Condition is pretty good, a few small patches of rust beginning to
bubble through on some panels. It's still in its original, very shiny,
Mexico Brown paint so hasn't been tarted up to cover underlying horrors.
One of our ex-students has just persuaded me to sell it for him as...

offer car transport to the continent by
Guido De Backer
hello all,
I will travel next weekend from Belgium to the U.K. with a van and a trailer
bringing a car (fotd T) for a friend. I'm wondering if someone has a car to
take back to the continent (belgium, france, holland) to reduce costs.
Anyone interested ?
thanks,
Guido

SD1 Speedo by
Liam Healy
Can any of my SD1 buddies tell me whether the SD1 V8 SERIES ONE speedo
cable attached to the speedometer with a push/click fit, or a screw on?
Did the P6 V8 speedo cable have a push/click fit?
I have a mystery speedo I am trying to identify. It looks like the type
of push fitting your garden hosepipe has.
