Which cars used a Brass Solex 26MV Carb.? by Dave Carter.
A few weeks ago at the end of a vintage show/working day, a gentleman briefly chatted to me about the brass carb that was on my stationary engine as it was the same as on his car. His carb was not jetted correctly and had a flat-spot. He had some carb spares and had tried several different jets and wondered if I knew of any info. I said I had a Solex manual for the 26MV carb with tables of...

Magazines for pre 1950 Cars by dixthewiz
I'm particularly interested in cars made before about 1950 and am wondering if there are any magazines published that cover this period. I'm aware of those you can get from W.H.Smiths but what I'm wondering is are there any subscription only magazines rather like Old Motor of the 1970s? TIA,

Widow rubber sealer by Dave Plowman (News)
One of the fixed rear windows on my SD1 is leaking and I'm hoping to sort it properly, which will mean removing it and checking the condition of the paint etc behind the rubber. It's mounted in a conventional rubber seal which appears to be in good condition although of course it may have hardened over the years. New ones are readily available, though. The workshop manual recommends 'Seelastik'...

Hey by Gwydion Alun
Hi, As a first post I thought I'd let you know two things. First off, I'm a total classic newbie. I really have no idea at all about how a car works, or about how to restore it (But I am really eager to learn!) Second of all, I love VW beetles. I've always thought that classic cars have way more character then the mundane new ones that are just spurted out of the industry every year.

Escort door lock by Jim Warren
A friend of mine has had his 1969 Escort broken into (not what I would call a classic, but he is happy with it!). They didn't take the car, or steal anything from it, but they did wreck the door lock. His insurance company has told him that they would write the car off rather than repair it if he submits a claim, but his local garage is happy to replace the lock *if* he can find a replacement...

Anyone want a project? by Willy Eckerslyke
My friend has just bought another funny liddle car to weigh in as scrap, but it really would be rather a shame. It's one of the 1st generation Honda Civics - 1979 1.2 Hondamatic, with an immaculate interior - still has the plastic protection on the door trims - unused spare wheel and tool kit - neat little Honda radio, etc. Without poking about too much, it looks a fairly easy restoration job...

Lucas c40 generator substitute by jj
Hello, Any suggestions for a more modern substitute for the Lucas C40 generator? This is for a 1960 Series II 109" I'm up for fabing a new mounting bracket/arm. Or is there a source for reasonably priced rebuilt C40s in the UK? I can live with the 22 Amps. I'm in the States.

I have been reccommended to use an A+ dizzy on my engine but would like to know what the curves are like and what the actual ID number is for an A+ distributor. Triumph TR7 with Dolomite Sprint Engine - Questions by John & Lisa
I have a Triumph TR7 with a Dolomite Sprint engine fitted. Two questions: Firstly, how do I safely remove the water pump impeller and bearings/seals so I can replace them? Secondly, has anyone got a new/old stock distributor rotor arm lying around for a Sprint engine they want to sell? Regards,
