GODDAMNED RUST by Conor
Goddamned Christine. Never before has a car been so deserving of the name. After setting up the timing on my new Aldon ignition I've just fitted to the Capper and shutting the bonnet, I noticed the tell tale sign of rust - two small finger nail paint blisters just starting to show to the right of where the worst bit on the bonnet was when I had it resprayed. The bit that was leaded is fine....

Removing 1st gear from mainshaft of OD Spit? by S1500
Wow, my tranny rebuild has come off to a hellish start. There's no way in hell I've been able to just tilt & ease out the mainshaft and I'm done. Nope, things got in the way. No clearance. So, with that in mind, how do you get the 1st gear off the mainshaft? It slides a bit as it should, but it stops when you get to the mainshaft part where splines start up again. Yet, the diameter of the...

Leather by Doki
I've got a modern Jag driver's seat that's a bit worse for wear. Liquid leather has rejuvenated it a bit, but on the bolster where it's rubbed by the driver getting in and out, it's still a bit ropey. The top surface of the leather looks like it's been abraded away. Is there a cure for this sort of damage or is it just somtehing you have to live with?

USE £6 TO MAKE THOUSANDS by Jim
You may have read these letters asking you to send £1 to 6 different addresses. Putting your home address on the internet can be risky, but through PayPal all you have to provide is your email address. Its safe and easy. Just go to use the link below and set up your account! I am not a gullible person and have never trusted things like this, but I gave it a try, hey its only £6, I figured at...

Rover 800 Diesel MK1 - Brake Master Cylinder by Classic Car Man
I'm trying to find a replacement master cylinder or repair kit for my 1990 MK1 rover 800 diesel WITHOUT ABS. Rover (dealers?) can't help, they can only supply 4 seals not the complete repair kit including piston as Rover is now dead, I've tried EBAY and others. My only hope is that someone is breaking a late MK1 with a good brake master cylinder.

Classic versus modern by Willy Eckerslyke
We had two car faults yesterday - wife's Passat threw off it's alternator belt and my Rover P6 developed an ominous clicking from a front wheel. No prizes for guessing which of those sounds the most expensive to sort out. Except you'd be wrong (probably). Bloody Passat had cracked it's alternator's casing, costing a cool 175 quid to replace (too much of a hurry to shop around, and no good for...

Classic Saab 900 wheel needed by Classic Car Man
Due to poor road maintenance and hitting a waterfilled pothole, we now need a wheel (steel or alloy) 5.5Jx15 for a 1986 Saab 900. The PCD is 4x114, ET40 with a centre hub of 70mm Please only reply if you have one or have contact details of someone who has. And yes I've spent all week on the phone and have tried the breakers, Saab dealers and the 'experts' that I've been given We can collect...

Jackall system refurb.... by Classic Car Man
Can anyone tell me where I can get the rams (legs) for my Jackall system refurbished? I know they are old, and every hydraulic company that I've contacted has declined to help. The rams do move under the pumps pressure, so I guess a new set of seals all round may be the answer.
