NOT classic related but rather urgent by
pork'n'stuffing
My wifes Vauxhall Omega needs a tyre replacing and now shes discovered that
shes lost the locking wheelnut key to the alloys. The alloys are the five
spoke style (Omega Sport 'Touring' estate) with extremely deep wheelnut
holes so there is no way you can get close up to the lock to attack it. The
'face' portion of the lock has three circular holes which the key fits in -
the diameter of the lock...

Does this have a water heated inlet manifold? Could be sucking water in to
ithe combustion chambers to give you the snow effect...although I'd expect
plugs to be cleaned in...

Jaguar XJ6, sill ends and rustproofing by
MB
Hoping for advice, as usual:
My SIII XJ6 is still laid up awaiting a gearbox. If I can get time I
might address a couple of other issues with it, one being the sills.
Mine are rusted at the front
I'm under the impression it's common for the sill ends to rust through
at the front (where a mudflap would be, if fitted). True? And and
acceptable fix is to weld a plate on?

Transmission noise on Triumph 2000 - Fixed by
Jim Warren
The diagnostics prize goes to Jon Tilson.
Once the car was on the hoist and lit underneath by a bright light, the
shiny mark on the prop shaft was obvious. The front silencer had been
rubbing on the prop shaft because the front exhaust bracket (the one that
anchors the joint between the front pipe and the intermediate pipe to the
rear of the gearbox) had given way. Under power the engine twists...

Reliant Scimitar Coupe - cooling issues... by
undercover elephant
Hi
A freind of mine has recently acquired a 1967 Reliant Scimitar coupe fitted
with the 3 litre V6 engine.
Whilst he is very happy with the car, he is continually bugged by what
appears to be a very high operating temperature (the guage sits comfortably
beyond the top of its range when the electric fan isn't providing any
assistance). This operating temperature remains high even when the...

Anyone need Marina bits? by

I've come across a very rotten Morris Marina. I'm going to be having a
number of parts from it, including engine, gearbox, brakes and cylinder,
maybe some electrics too.
Am I right in thinking that the diff internals are shared with some
Triumphs? If so, and depending on the ratio, the axle could be worth
something to someone.

A Mini van?
It struck me recently that I could do with a back up classic for those
times when I'm halfway through replacing my Rotoflex couplings and find
the lower vertical link bolt seized and end up spending three days over
the job when all I originally set out to do was adjust the handbrake.
You've been there too, no doubt.
A tax exempt Mini van would be the perfect cheap to run,...

Morris Oxford 'Mo' by
Dear potential MO purchaser!
I am concerned that you are missing the opportunity of purchasing a reliable
, comfortable six seater with probably the best road holding and steering
set up of any family sallon from the early fifties - not bad for a vehicle
designed in the forties, when most Austins and Fords were still using cart
springs at the front!
Yes they are slow off the mark - but the...

Austin 10 identification by
Ron
I am picking up an Austin 10 in the next few days. It has been kept
garaged for the last ten+ years and appears to be in fairly good
condition. Is there any way to identify what model and year it is? I
was told it was 1932 but I don't think so. It is a convertable 2 door
(black with maroon hood) with pram type folding hood, metal wheels not
spokes. The radiator grill is curved (not the square...

Breaking Citroen XM by
Andy Dingley
Drove my XM to Ireland last week. A little worried before setting off
as it had developed a minor coolant leak that I couldn't find.
Didn't have any coolant problems - but just short of the ferry at 2 in
the morning, in the depths of the North Wales banjo country, the
gearbox blew a cog !
So, I'm finally breaking the ex-Jarkman Citroen XM.

advice on mk iv spit total respray by
AWM
I recently bought bought a SIP Saphire spray gun with a 1.5mm nozzle --
sprays very nicely, it would need a 2 hp to get a good finish on a big
panel job such as a bonnet or roof but it will do minor stuff such as a
door quite happily when conected to one of my a 1.5 hp compressors.
2 pack or 3 pack paints are best avoided because they are highly toxic,
but some of the newer ones are...

Thanks
