Brake Fluid woes... by R L Driver
"Jon Tilson" wrote in message ... I have a Rover P6 which came to me with some green dot 5 brake fluid. Soon after I got the car the brakes went spongey and to cut a long story short I changed the master cylinder seals and all seemed well. I noticed that the little end seal was distorted and enlarged, but...

URGENT - MoT test on Sunday by DocDelete
I'm picking up a car on Sunday and in order to keep it all legal I need to book an MoT inspection for the end of the journey (yes, *and* actually turn up for the test!) - does anyone know of a garage that'll do tests on a Sunday, in Birmingham / Midlands? Ta. PS I've tried Nationwide Autocentres, AA/Halfords, Kwikfit et al but even though they advertise as "open seven days" none of the buggers...

Spring Assisters by Elizabeth Hall
Although this post may be OT I wonder if anyone tows a caravan with 1967 Rover P6 or similar. We like to take the car and the caravan to rallies, and sometimes when we have to camp in fields and the back end of this model of car is particularly low naturally. We have looked at the spring assisters as sold in White Arches locally, and wonder if they would help. Years ago we used to fit McKineys...

FS : 1954 Morris Minor split screen by Kalico
Sorry this post is brief, but yet to get more details. I have been asked to try to find either a buyer or someone who can value this car for a female friend of mine who has gone into hospital and looks unlikely to be out and able to drive it. 1954 split screen Minor. 803cc. It is roadworthy and solid but some panels are a bit battered. Pity really as I know how nice they look when...

Crash, oh well by barcodes
"Mr P A Latham" wrote in message ... Well i was hoping to preserve my Rover Vitesse (800 1993, don't worry it wasn't an SD1) to be a future classic as it had below average miles and was in lovely condition just the drivers seat a bit worn. Tonight whilst turning right some boy racer **** decided to put his foot...

Triumph 1300 Twin carbs For Sale by Ken Forrest
I expect Bill Davies will see this and let us know if they fit other cars. The 1300TC was FWD and maybe the manifold was different to the RWD Herald derivatives? ken

Does anyone know where I can get some rear suspension bushes for my Keith Brading manufactured Healey Frogeye? I can't get any reply out of John Mead, who normally has them. Thanks Stephen

Triumph Acclaim by shell
Just recently received a 1983 Triumph Acclaim Manual CD.. I know it's not quite a classic yet. Anyone got any tips or pointers they'd like to pass on, or just want to agree with me on how nice a car it is? :) -- Michelle

Triumph 1500 Catalitic Converter caused fire by Rick
Just picked up a 1978 Spitfire that the previous owner had put headers on. That moved the catalytic converter farther down the pipe just under the transmission cover (it's a California car). The factory solution was to put the Cat right under the exhaust manifold. I had to have the thing smog checked. Since the new laws in this (f'ing) state require a dynamo test the car was running in...

Lancia Fulvia Coupe buying advice? by Timo @ work
Apart from "don't do it" obviously. I'll be looking at a supposedly reasonable Fulvia Coupe tomorrow and have scoured the web for a buyer's guide but the only reference I found is to an old (1987) article in Practical Classics. Unfortunately my archive doesn't go as far back as this. For weak spots, I know about the following: - Rust in the rear subframe mounts - Rust in/around the front mount...

TR4/5 hard top wanted by ajmac
Hi Chaps, any ideas on where to find or at least start to find a Surrey Top for my TR? I really want to get one before winter sets in but all the obvious breakers yards have come to nothing - which isn't surprising I suppose :-) Preferably in good nick if possible, I believe a minter can change hands for quite a sum if TRaction is to be believed. Painting chrome by athomik
Does anyone have any suggestions about painting chromed parts? I want to spray a few items in Satin black. Among these are the door handles, which obviously are subject to quite a bit of wear & tear. I have had suggestions about using "etch primer", but I can't find any referrences or sources of this stuff. -- athomik
