The £10,000 Austin Hereford by Charles Griffiths
Extract from the Austin Counties Car Club magazine. Interest in Counties cars is certainly on the up and up. Hidden away in the results on an auction, held on September 13th by haulage contractor John Mould, to thin out his 300 plus collection of classics were details of his immaculate 1952 A70 Hereford pickup. This vehicle sold for A£9,450 plus buyers premium of 5% premium. This bringing...

FA: Triumph Spitfire manuals by Andy Ashworth
Since I no longer have a Triumph Spitfire due to having passed the transition to parenthood, I now have a few Spitfire related books that are clogging my bookshelves (I need the space for "Toddler Taming" - cars are so much easier than kids!). Therefore, I've put the following books up on eBay if anyone is...

Strange electrical problem - solved by Jim Warren
Those of you who offered suggestions about my intermittent high charging voltage on my PI might be interested in the outcome. Round 1: First surprise was the number on the alternator - 18ACR when I had expected to find 17ACR or perhaps 15ACR. There were 3 wires from the back, a thick brown, a thin brown and brown with a yellow stripe. Inside the alternator the connections for the two browns...

"For Life" cooling system additive by rovereab
My Rover P4 came with its cooling system containing this product. The was a label with a wire twist attached to the overflow pipe. As I needed to top up the cooling system and not being able to find the product anywhere it was replaced with conventional anti-freeze. It has really left the cooling system in superb condition. However, I wonder if anybody on the newsgroup has ever heard of the...

Strange electrical problem by Jim Warren
The last couple of times I have taken my PI out, there has been an intermittent charging fault. There is a battery volt meter on the dash, and suddenly (but not often) it shoots up from the normal 13V to the end of the dial (16V). If the lights are on, they go extra bright, if the wipers are on, they speed up, so I believe that the gauge correctly shows an unusually high voltage. After...

OT: Transporting cars. by Martin
Can anyone recommend a firm to transport a car for me? I thinking of buying a car but it'll need trailering from Nottingham to Bournemouth. Alternatively, is it possible to hire something I can drive myself? Cheers, Martin.

Triumph seats by Jim Warren
I have been told of someone getting shot of a Triumph 1500 with rusty body but good interior, going cheap. Does anyone know if the seats are the same as those in a Triumph 2000? My seats are past their best and I was wondering if I could do a straight swap? Jim
