Hillman Minx Opinions by
Bryan
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/b.lurring/images/minxsmall.jpg
Can anyone tell me roughly how old that Minx is? I have the opportunity to
get it to restore, but I haven't been able to talk to the owner, just the
owner of the land it's on. Going from what I have read on the internet it's
a series III? dating from the 60s? The gearchange is on the steering column
if that helps any.
What's the...

Can anyone identify these cars? by
Bryan
I found these two cars lying in a field among some other old cars rusting
away. I have a funny feeling the black one is a 50's Anglia but I'm not
quite sure. I didn't get any closer to it than from where the picture was
taken. The green one I could not identify because there were no badges...

Classic Car Magazines - Free to collector? by
William Davies
If there is anyone interested in the first 100 or so copies of Classic Car
Mart, they're sitting here alongside me and in imminent danger of being
recycled! This really was an excellent magazine when Mike Worthington
Williams was editor, I stopped buying it shortly after it changed format and
they employed Mark Stone at issue number 101 or thereabouts.
I really would hate to see these being...

AH 100/4 - buying tips please by
Paul Cohen
I'm thinking of buying one of these (a '52), can anyone please advise on
what items, in particular, to look for please? The car in question, on
paper at least, looks to be in good order, so I don't expect to find any
major problems, but having no previous experience of this car I would like
to be able to home in on the more, er, 'interesting' areas.
Any other comments on the marque in...

A series engine wanted by
Geoff Mackenzie
Can anybody help? My teenage daughter runs a 1964 Farina A40. Lovely
little car, bought through this NG, only 23,000 miles from new. Not
concours, dubious respray, but a perfect starter classic. She uses it a
lot - lives near Gatwick and commutes to Coventry U doing Mech Eng and
Automotive Design. So it's being used, not shown.
Enough of the weepies. She just called from the M40 to say the...

Getting rid of mould in a car interior by
Timo Geusch
Well, SWMBO has a far better nose than myself and it turns out that
the 'old car' smell I noticed in the Rover is actually mold. Bummer.
So I order to use the car I need to get rid of the mold in the first
place - thi stuff is rather too unhealthy to be risking anything
here. Does anyone have any experience of getting rid of mold - I
*think* it's mainly in the carpets (most likely the underlay...

Gearbox Recons. by
SteveH
I reckon I'll need a new 'box for the 75 before long - it's started to
whine like a milk-float. Started a couple of months back but hasn't got
any worse, though.
Would I be right in assuming this is the diff. bearings? - if so, how
long have I got before it implodes?
Most people just tell me to stick some thick oil in there and sell it
quick... but it's such a lovely car, I don't want to part...

Scimitar SE5 rear window hinge fixings by
ANDREW ROBERT BREEN
Dear all - a plea for advice here. One of the hinges on the rear window
of my Scimitar (SE5, 1970 model) has worked somewhat loose - this is the
part of the hinge that is fastened into the bodywork. Obviously I
want to tighten it up, partly because it means the bad window leaks
more than usual but mainly to stop the shifting hinge damaging the
bodyshell. However, I'm nuggered if I can see where...

Help with buying a P6 by
Peter Sheppard
Today I had a look at a 1969 Series 1 P6 3500.
Mechanically it was fine. 140,000 on the clock but the engine, gearbox and
all suspension elements have been replaced in the last 6 years, the engine
and gearbox having done only around 9000 miles. Sounded nice, drove well
(in a straight line) and braked in a straight line. Kick down doesn't work
(just a cable adjustement I suspect)
The interior...

Mk2 Transit for spares by
Graham
Would anyone be interested in a Mk2 Tansit? I'm thinking the engine in
particular may be useful to someone??
12 seat minibus 1986 (C reg) LWB, Semi hi top, twin wheel, 2.0L (pinto?)
with 4 speed plus overdrive gbox.
Generally good bodily except for a badly corroded floor under the front
passenger seat which exits inside the wheel arch. Mechanically it's very
good, the engine runs fine and it...
