HELP! - 33 Series 3 16v Cambelt Timing Problem by Rev. Alfa Adam
I'm in an interesting sitch - having rebuilt my 16v 33 engine I've put the engine back in and timed the cams according to the instructions on http://www.alfisti.co.uk/16v_boxer_belts.htm Since then, the engine has run on 1 & 3, but cylinders 2 & 4 won't run. Now I've thought laterally, then read the instructions several (hundred!) times and then I tried moving the belts around a bit - this...

Old MG by Wes Lee
My elderly aunt asked me to assist in cleaning out her garage prior to putting her property up for sale. She has offered me an old car that is amongst the clutter, an MG roadster, 1955 I think she said it was. Her husband bought it new, drove it a couple of summers, and it languished in the garage ever since (he passed away). The tires are flat, and the sidewalls all cracked where they are...

MoT query - not classic by DocDelete
Here's another MoT test query for those in the know, before I query with the garage... The wife's '99 Clio 1.4 failed today due to "Rear silencer blowing" - OK "Emissions above limits due to rear silencer (lambda sensor)" - ???? The lambda sensors (I think there are two) are ahead and behind the cat on this car, measuring O levels downstream of the engine. The rear box is

Black Wire Syndrome by Peter Keating
How about this for a puzzle. The rear window de-mister was not working on my Toyota Supra MK3, so I checked the voltage at the terminals and got reading of 12volts. So I suspected that the element had gone , checked it out and all was o/k. Next I thought, right, I will put a test lamp on the terminals and it did not light. This was a real puzzle, how can you have 12volts and no power to light a...

Has anyone any experience/advice/do's/don'ts on using brushing paint, such as Re-Paint onto glass-fibre? Wouldn't it give a good finish if it were flatted with 1200 W&D?

How to work under your car ? by Johan Cannaerts
What's the best way of working under your car ? I have no car pit, no high ceiling to have a 'normal' car lift installed. What shall I do to be able to work under my car in a comfortable way? Do I have to use 4 jack stands ? Which ones ? Is there a better, safer way ???????? Thanks for any feedback. Johan Belgium

Final bit of help needed to get my midget going! by M Marsay
The little dear decided to blow her top back in August. With one thing and another, it has taken me til now to get the head rebuilt and reinstalled. When I finally got her restarted, what a buzz... just as great a sound as before but so quiet in comparison (I had a cracked exhuast manifold to eplace as well) unfortunaely, as she has been sat for 5 months, the clutch has decided to stick, and I...

Final bit of help needed to get my midget going! by M Marsay
Had to bash it back and forth in first and reverse a bit as well, but it worked great! Just been for a spin and its a great as I remember! Mind you, the tendancy of the revs to drop off on idle is annoying, but its a small price to pay Thanks to everyone who replied, both posted or e-mailed. "The Motor" magazine - 1950 and early 1960's by Michael Calwell
Hi, I was given some copies of 'The Motor' magazine, all in fair condition, covering much of the year 1950 and and a few of the early 1960's, by a former schoolteacher many years ago. Would they be worth anything to anyone I wonder? Michael Calwell

What Oil..... by EricR
Folks, Just had my Volvo Amazon's B20 engine rebuit, and I'm coming up for my first oil change, but wondering what to use. I'm wondering about something such as Magnatex, given that (In my head) the engine is "new" so start with a good oil and stay with it. What are people's views on this? My intention is to change the oil approx every 3000 miles anyway, so would it make much of a difference,...
