Birkin 7 clone spotteds on ebay by dilbert
I noticed a a Birkin 7 on Ebay which could be fun for someone, the South African Birkin is generally regarded as an ultra high quality 7 clone quite faithful to the original Lotus. The auction ends within the hour and it has no bids at starting price of 5k

Oh NO!, it's impulse purchase time. by Pete M
1990/1 H XJ-S 3.6 Auto, *Good bits* Metallic gold (not Jewish racing beige, kinda champagne colour), tan leather, A/C, ABS, Airbag, Cruise, recentish tyres, sounds sweet as a nut (especially for a '40 engine), starts first go, good oil pressure.. drives sweet as an XJ-S ever has. Headlining still attached to the ceiling. Late spec x-wire alloys.

Austin A55 by gaspode
Hi all Any of you guys know which of the "B" series engines can be transplanted direct into an A55 Mk11 without mods? I have aquired an A55 with an engine which is looking beyond economic repair but the car is far too good to scrap. Has anyone out there got a suitable transplant engine? If so let me know, remove "NOSPAM" to reply off group. Gaspode

Most Unworthy Successor... by Jon Tilson
Occasionally the industry produces that rare thing. A car inferior in almost every respect to the model it replaces... I postulated a few examples well down in that unworthy classics thread.... So what do you all think of these..... Mk IV Ford...hideous barge with appaling rear suspension, awful V engines etc replaceing elegant Mk3 with nice basics and smoooth straight 6 Allegro...only superior...

Rolls Royces & Bentleys from the 1920s & 30s by huffreport
Hi all, I've added a new page to my site.... These are pics from a fairly large collection of cars in St. Louis, and they're mostly big classics from the 30s, plus a lot of Rolls Royce and Bentley models. These guys seem to really love British cars.... Here's the link: http://www.huffreport.com/privatecollection.htm Cheers!

OT - What The?? by Stuffed
Is this normal on a Saturday nowadays then? half a dozen large message attachments, of stuff that's nothing whatsoever to do with cars? I go away for one lousy year, and the place goes to the dogs... Wouldn't be quite so miffed if it weren;t for the fact my ISP doesn't even carry binary groups, yet I'm seeing shedloads of binaries on a non bin group! :(

metro seats in morris 1000? by JonSenker
I'm looking for some seats with headrests to fit to a morris 1000 especially following whiplash when a nun drove into the back of my car (will the spam filter let that through?). I recall something about metro seats fitting fairly easily and a kit being available. Can anyone tell me more about this - any particular model, who sells this kit, does it just bolt on, any other seats fit well, do...

Sprite gearbox stripdown by Les Rose
Last time I did this was 1972 so memory is a bit dimmed. It's a ribcase 1098 box and the only problem is removing the 1st motion shaft. Workshop manual (official BL one) says to drift out this assembly, but it seems locked onto the adjacent synchro cone which stops it going through the hole in the case. 3rd motion shaft came out the back OK. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Electric help pls morris by JonSenker
The headlight switch on my morris 1000 is of the older style pull type. It was getting extremely hot when the headlights were on- melting the insulation on the sire connecting it, providing the healthy smell of burning plastic and doing so quickly so that a 20 minute drive needed to be interrupted for cooling off periods. I have replaced the switch - the old one appear very scorched around...
