Hi all Any of you guys know which of the "B" series engines can be transplanted direct into an A55 Mk11 without mods? I have aquired an A55 with an engine which is looking beyond economic repair but the car is far too good to scrap. Has anyone out there got a suitable transplant engine? Last time I did this was 1972 so memory is a bit dimmed. It's a ribcase 1098 box and the only problem is removing the 1st motion shaft. Workshop manual (official BL one) says to drift out this assembly, but it seems locked onto the adjacent synchro cone which stops it going through the hole in the case. 3rd motion shaft came out the back OK. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

The headlight switch on my morris 1000 is of the older style pull type. It was getting extremely hot when the headlights were on- melting the insulation on the sire connecting it, providing the healthy smell of burning plastic and doing so quickly so that a 20 minute drive needed to be interrupted for cooling off periods. I have replaced the switch - the old one appear very scorched around...
