Try Boncaster, or Richardson Hosken, or Equity Red Star, or whatever
they're calling themselves this week. They have various Club schemes,
and it may even be worth joining the appropriate club to get benefits
like free breakdown cover (full recovery). Not that an SD1...

Mine's a "classic" policy, which requires availability of an everyday
car, and doesn't accumulate NCD. They'll cover several classics on one
policy, though I'm not sure how much that saves compared with individual
policies.

Thanks for the suggestions Kevin. I'll give them a try.

Last time mine came up for renewal I found Direct Line gave me as good a
deal as any without restrictions - but I have my other car and house
insured with them.

That's the same lot as I suggested, so they must be good :-)

I've put me glasses back on so can see that you did :-))

My other classic was insured by them and when I had an accident with it they
paid in full and gave me the vehicle back, I had it professionally repaired
and MOTed and they re insured it with no extra premium so when my latest car
came along there was no contest.

I've used Lancaster for 20 odd years every since I started Driving as
I have always been insuring at least one classic car. They are not the
cheapest but they do a good classic package. Bits to look out for when
comparing price a
Agreed Valuation if you get a total loss
Replacement of Old parts with New irrespective of condition
No quibbling over using your prefered classic car garage rather than
the local body shop
Not charging you if the repairs increase the value of your car

I've found them very helpful settling claims unlike the insurance
companies I've used for modern cars so am happy to pay the slight
premium. Also the difference between £130 fully comp and £140 fully
comp on the classic isn't worth shopping round for.
