Did they ever make that as an open car? Oh yes. And they're still quite plentiful as they are a relatively easy restoration for this age of car. Here's a pic of a few.:- http://www.hp-h.com/p/morriscars/Pic...06/toures1.jpg I thought initially a pre war Morris Minor but it doesn't appear to be that. The Minor was earlier - with a taller looking rad. Probably because the OHC engine was taller than the later side valve. Many thanks for the info and the patience - As you may gather this is an area I know very little about. The 2nd car. The blue saloon is a Morris 8 Series E. First produced in 1938. Discontinued during the war. Manufacture was resumed after the war from '46-'48. Mike. Thanks for that - Will ammend the entry. Mike |

Er - I think it's that way round! GMacK |

Er - I think it's that way round! I think you're right. Quite advanced for it's day in not having running boards. Plus it had a hydraulic brake system, which was not that common at the time. Still had suicide doors though. :-) Nice cars IMO. I had a 1947 one many years ago. Mike. |

"Geoff Mackenzie" wrote in message ... "Mike Smith" wrote in message o.uk... This looks like a promising place to try - I am trying to get a build date for several photographs of vehicles. These have been contributed for inclusion on a non commercial website. The site is built round the notes made for my god son when he was building a train set, the cars are covered in Appendix One, in a series of sub sections dealing with matters outside the railway fence. If anyone can date the cars shown it would be a big help - Also if anyone has any photos of their own cars they could donate it would be appreciated. I am currently a carer so cannot get to shows to take photos. The cars in question are up at http://www.igg.org.uk/gansg/help/help.htm - I have used trhe largest images I had to make identification easier, they will take a few seconds to download however. The index for the whole site is at http://www.igg.org.uk/gansg/ - The non railway material is currently concentrated in Appendix One. TIA Mike The "Morgan" looks more like a Morris Eight Series 1 to me. IIRC there were only cosmetic differences between the Series 1 and 2 as far as appearance went. The series 2 having pressed steel wheels, rather than wire wheels, and 2 vertical stripes on the rad grille. |
