In ,
Gary decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows "Adrian" wrote in message . 244.170... Barspeed1975 ) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying : spam Abuse report sent to eBay. http://pages.ebay.com/help/usenet_policy.html Spam? ...This guy is selling relevant material... Is he not? He could have just put a link to a web****e full of his spam, but no, he chose to put loads of links to the ****e he's selling instead. If he'd said "If anyone's interested, I've got a load of old ****e for sale, here's the ebay number for one of the bits of tat, if you search for other things I'm selling you'll see the rest of my ****e" then at least he'd be being honest. Oh, actually taking part in the group instead of just trying to flog ****e would possibly help. -- Pete M Range Rover Vogue SE, Ford Capri (ressurection stalling) *Porsche 911 3.2 (For Sale)* ;-) COSOC #5 Scouse Git extraordinaire. Spam? ...This guy is selling relevant material... Is he not? eBay themselves have a specific policy on advertising through usenet. quote "eBay users may not post on Usenet groups (Internet newsgroups) to advertise eBay or an eBay listing that is inappropriate or violates the Usenet board policy. ... We have no tolerance for UseNet abuse and will take action as appropriate." /quote There may be a group that is dedicated to advertising private sales but this simply isn't it. To question if it is spam if the material is relevant... If it is unsolicited and sent by email to promote a commercial venture it is spam. Rich |

Gary ) gurgled happily, sounding much
like they were saying : spam Abuse report sent to eBay. http://pages.ebay.com/help/usenet_policy.html Spam? ...This guy is selling relevant material... Is he not? Irrelevant. Look at the link. eBay (rightly) do NOT like people spamming auctions. The charter for the group also (IIRC) forbids it. How many people are selling classic car material on fleaBay at the moment? Thousands. What would happen to this newsgroup if EVERY ONE of them posted a link to their auction here? If somebody wants to buy a brochure for a 1942 Throgmorton Whippet, then fleaBay's website is hardly difficult to search. You can create and save repeating searches, too, which email you the result. |

Do you have a brochure for a 1942 Throgmorton Whippet? The one with the twin overhead crankshaft, seven piston, diesel two stroke engine and preselect indicators? ;-) |

From the charter: "Advertising Lengthy and or off- topic posts will not be welcome. Short (i.e. 10 lines max.) announcements of relevant products, services and events, inviting e-mail inquires or suggesting URLs for further information, will be allowed. If traffic is heavy enough, uk.cars.classic.forsale might be created at some future date." Ian -- |
