My local 4x4 mag has just published an article saying they should be fitted to the front (which always seemed logical to me, so you can steer, but I trusted the LR guy's expertise). Who is right? Or is there no "right", it's personal...

Honda CR-V vs Kia Sportage vs Toyota RAV4 vs Hyundai Tucson vs Land Rover Freelander by chris@chrisallmark.com
I think the RR has to go, mainly due to the fuel consumption & it is a bit on the big side for what we need, so I am looking to buy a smaller 4x4 (I HATE the term 'soft-roader'), around an 02 or 03 model, price around £8k (on ebay!). Initially the Honda was my favourite, but after having a sit in one I found it rather bland, certainly compared to the Kia. But then again, the Kia interior...

This looks interesting. by Elder
I wonder whether it actually works off road, or is just "bigger than a Hummer and scarier in the rear view mirror"? http://english.pravda.ru/photo/report/vepr_hummer-1371 -- Carl Robson Audio stream: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com:8000/samtest Homepage: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com Now Playing at home:Gregorian-Join Me (Schill Out Version)

Honest review, what are they like. Which is better petrol or diesel. Or is it really comparing two piles of dried turd? -- Carl Robson Audio stream: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com:8000/samtest Homepage: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com Now Playing at home:Gregorian-Join Me (Schill Out Version)

Some very large 4*4s (around the 3 tonnes?) in the States are now facing restrictions in large cities Its also the first time I've seen the term "New York tractors" bandied around here in the UK even Mini Cooper S come under the Green Richmond Councils restrictions (wonder what the mayor drives, also If the mileage allowance paid to the councillors/officials is higher for bigger cars )

On or around 24 Jan 2007 09:58:37 GMT, Will Cove enlightened us thusly: Er, AFAICT it does. The law bans both mobile phones and communication devices that operate exclusively on one or more of the forbidden bands. yeah, but if the Tetra device *doesn't* operate on a prohibited (i.e. mobile phone) frequency, then it's exempt. -- Austin Shackles. www.ddol-las.net my...
