Chains by
David Millen
Years ago, I was told by a LandRover employee that if you only have
one pair of chains available for your 4x4, they should be fitted to
the rear wheels. My local 4x4 mag has just published an article
saying they should be fitted to the front (which always seemed logical
to me, so you can steer, but I trusted the LR guy's expertise).
Who is right? Or is there no "right", it's personal...

Honda CR-V vs Kia Sportage vs Toyota RAV4 vs Hyundai Tucson vs Land Rover Freelander by
chris@chrisallmark.com
I think the RR has to go, mainly due to the fuel consumption & it is a
bit on the big side for what we need, so I am looking to buy a smaller
4x4 (I HATE the term 'soft-roader'), around
an 02 or 03 model, price around £8k (on ebay!). Initially the Honda
was my
favourite, but after having a sit in one I found it rather bland,
certainly compared to the Kia. But then again, the Kia interior...

shallow sub for under pickup seat by
Jonathan
Hi,
I'm looking for a shallow sub that'll fit under my pickup rear seat. I'm
looking for something with quite a bassy vibrating effect.
Any ideas?
THanks
Jonathan

This looks interesting. by

I wonder whether it actually works off road, or is just "bigger than a
Hummer and scarier in the rear view mirror"?

Honest review, what are they like.
Which is better petrol or diesel. Or is it really comparing two piles of
dried turd?

Even the Yanks? by

Some very large 4*4s (around the 3 tonnes?) in the States are now facing
restrictions in large cities
Its also the first time I've seen the term "New York tractors" bandied
around
here in the UK even Mini Cooper S come under the Green Richmond Councils
restrictions (wonder what the mayor drives, also If the mileage allowance
paid to the councillors/officials is higher for bigger cars )

What frequency is used for Tetra?
380 - 400 MHz, 410 - 430 MHz, 450 - 470 MHz, 870 - 876 MHz and 915 -
921 MHz, all of which conveniently fall outside the list of prohibited
frequencies.

Er, AFAICT it does. The law bans both mobile phones and communication
devices that operate exclusively on one or more of the forbidden bands.
yeah, but if the Tetra device *doesn't* operate on a prohibited (i.e. mobile
phone) frequency, then it's exempt.
