Nissan X-Trail - Chipped by Toon9
I've been a very proud X-Trail owner since Sept 02. I have the diesel variant in Sport trim, full UK spec. I'm thinking of having the EMU chipped. Has anyone had this modification done to their car? I've been quoted a price of circa £500 with a "promise" of an additonal 30 horses under the bonnet. My main concern, should I proceed is to what extent this will invalidate my manufacturers warranty....

Any advice out there by Bob
I am looking at getting my first 4*4 the reason being I do a lot of fishing and a lot of the places I fish have vehicle access but are not suitable for a road car. Basically rough gravel, steep hills and occasional fording of shallow rivers. I have been looking round and my budget will cover a Freelander, a Nissan X-Trail or a Honda CRV. Can anybody advise on teh best choice please. Bob

Frontera by Greg Henderson
Recently got a second generation VX Frontera Sport 2.2 petrol and it doesn't appear to have free wheeling hubs. I only need 4wd at the weekends to tow my dirtbike up farm tracks and so FWH would make a difference to my fuel bill. Anybody know if they aren't fitted cos of the 'shift on the fly' 4wd system? and would FWH's from the earlier Frontera fit? Is it advisable to fit them to this wagon?

Lake District proposed ban on off-roading - info required by Nick
Whilst not an off-roader, I'd be grateful for some contacts of clubs/individuals/websites etc that either are or will be campaigning against the Lake District National Park Authority's proposed ban on off-roading. The reason? Well visit http://www.waf.uk.com and all will become clear. I think groups affected by the National Parks actions should start to unite and fight.

What is the difference of fuel consumption between 4wd and 2wd? by Mike
I now have driven my "new" 92 Frontera (2.4i) for few days now. (love it!) Actually i have driven most of a tank (80l) of gasoline (maybe some 30l left) and got some 570 + km on the trip. There were some 2wd driving on main roads and quite lot of driving 4wd on city. Allso when i was driving the car home after i bought it (150 km) in a blizzard, i used a 4wd. I know that 4wd will take more...

Shogun....reasons for 'intermittent' overheating.... by Lee John Moore
Any obvious reason why a 1994 Shogun would *occasionally* overheat when driving at 70mph? Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't. It did last night when driving ten miles along a dual-carriageway. It didn't quite reach the red, but it wasn't far off at all. I panicked and dropped my speed dramatically until I could get off the road. I noticed the heater was blowing cold air into the...

Who to get insurance from? by Neil
I have a second car, an old long-wheelbase diesel shogun. I only use it a couple times a week for my scouting activity's where its bouncing across a field full of camping equipment, towing a canoe trailer down a muddy river bank or simply transporting kids. I'm thirty plus, have some no claims discount behind me and I don't put much mileage on the vehicle but the insurance company's still...

Dear reader, This message is only sent once to you. I found your newsgroup under the heading "cars". If the content does not apply to you then I apologise.
