Default Hilux 4 wheel drive

Something I have been putting off.

For some months, the lever to engage 4 wheel drive on my ancient (K reg)
Hilux has refused to move. I assumed that this was due to
dirt/corrosion/lack of use in the linkage and asked my garage to free it
off and lubricate during a routine service.

When I collected the vehicle they admitted that the problem was beyond
simple measures and might involve gearbox work.

Has anyone come across this feature?

regards

I've a Hilux and would recommend the Hilux Surf forum. Great archive and
loads of good, and quick, advice.
