One of these should go! I have been offered a Citroen CX25 GTI Turbo 2
and temptation is getting the better of me... 1989 Supra, red, automatic 3.0 non-turbo, recent head gasket replacement, new tyres, six months tax (currently SORN and private plate), has been very reliable, very original, some paintwork to rear 1/4s - perhaps rust repairs, or scratches. Either way it all looks good but you can tell it has been done. Fading elsewhere implies original paint. MOT November 2005 (needed pads), recent ignition components. Has slight blue smoke on cold start sometimes - valve stems suspected, have checked with the garage that replaced the BHG and was told that they weren't replaced. Small history file with car. Currently needs new tyres - one front one keeps going flat, they are directional so needs 2 tyres at least to be sensible, though they are perfectly legal (very much so) all the way round. Would take £800 without doing the tyres (spare is good, Goodyear, probably original) or £1000 with new tyres. Alternatively: 1990 Sera Gullwing, 1.5 Auto, 180,000kms, MOT January 2006, Tax March 2005, new front tyres, Fox alloys plus steels and trims, light accident damage to front mostly repaired *no welding or paintwork done, all bolt-on parts*. To look better it needs the bumper painting or replacing (£215 painted from Toyota but they don't think the colour is available now), the bonnet replacing (bent resulting in 1" gap above wheel arches) and the slam panel straightening or replacing to put the bonnet catch in the correct place for a new one and allow full fitting of the new headlights. New headlights are fitted, but two bolts unattached on the ns headlight due to misalignment of the closing panel. To be perfect, the os front wing should be replaced; the edge above the headlight has been bent inwards slightly, and there is unrelated rust starting around the arch on that side anyway, a common area on Seras. Underneath is perfect - pictures are available! Straightening the slam panel is apparently not a big deal, however, if you want the best results, replacement parts will cost between £65 and £85 depending on how well you can remove the old one - £20 per side for headlamp closing panel, £45 for the slam panel, all genuine parts prices from Toyota. Obviously paint, welding and rust prevention will have to be done if this route is taken, but I know I've had a similar extent of welding done to a Metro before - the Sera is well worth fixing, but I don't see the point myself since I don't know anyone who can do it well, and it doesn't affect how it drives or the legality of driving it. £1,300 in present condition. They usually change hands for £2000 to £4000 now, this one was a £2800 car just before the accident. Many of them already have accident damage before landing in the UK, but I know that 'known' accident damage reduces a car's value - still, I think it's a fair price for it. Insurance is group 9 equivalent, Direct Line/Tesco/Privilege will have no problems covering it. Classic policy is not possible due to the car's import status and lack of equivalent UK model (apparently some imports, if they have a UK equivalent, can now be insured on a classic policy). email richard (at) dmc12 . demon . co . uk for more info.
