Ah, so 3 1/2 months' MOT left,

Says it ran out 8 months ago here...

and 9 months' tax, worth about 75 quid.

£150 absolute tops.

I'd always thought something half reasonable with T&T made about 200 quid?

Oh yeah, good point!

I used to think that as well. But for one, the bottom's dropped right out
of the market, and for two, this is a Mk3 Fiesta.

Which is, of course, impossible.

2 years newer, Ghia auto, new test, £275.

It's up to £405.02 now, although I doubt it will go much higher.

It's being offered with a full ticket though, and this makes a massive
difference to the value of a car at this end of its life.

My advice to the OP would be to get it MOT'd, then hope for £400 but settle
for £200. The land is awash with old cars, for which there are no buyers.

As others have pointed out with regards to the OPs car, the stated MOT
expiry is more than likely a typo, and has current MOT - else how does it
still have 8 months tax left?

I personally rate the Mk3 Fiesta, (at least the crossflow engined ones), if
you want a fairly roomy, comfy, if a bit soggy in old age, cheap to run car,
that's easy to maintain and fix.

That is, if you can find a decent one, and the chances are, if the mileage
is correct on this one, it is.

Unless he lost the latest test cert which isn't impossible knowing my own
filing system....

MoT would still be valid - the testing station will issue a duplicate.
No inference on the state of my filing system is to be drawn from the
fact that I know this.

Thank you, Jack.

I appreciate that you have never seen the car, but I cannot believe the
criticism in this newsgroup.

I was advised to place an opening price on a car, which I have had feedback
from the past from 2 garages, that it is in above average condition for its
year.

The trouble with people now a days, is that

(a) Every body wants something for nothing. (although I do want something
for the car, no pun intended)

(b) we live in a disposable society.

By the was, it's Ms Crowe, not Mr.

Thankyou for you time

Ms J Crowe

In my opinion, you have had very good and fair advice from this newsgroup-
although I accept it wasn't the news you wanted to hear.

Sell it to one of them, then.

Oh, leave it out!!!!!!

You have had good advice here. If you just won't listen, then that's your
funeral.. To check the true value of an old car, just look on ebay.

If you want to experience real criticism on this newsgroup, try becoming a
truck driver!
