im not taking a guess at your punishment but what you deserve is a life-time
ban.
im not one of these 'anti-this' and 'anti-that' kind of people but the harsh
reality of it is that speed does kill. just 1 slight error by anybody that
was in the vicinity at that time or an unexpected fault with your car could
have caused a fatal accident with you travelling at that speed.

bans dont slow people down but im sure as hell that causing a death would.

HAND

Chris

And you go everywhere at below the posted speed limit too I bet? ;-)
My arse, inappropriate speed kills not speed itself, the company car
******* doing 80/90 when it's ****ing it down on the M1 are far
worse...

For what it's worth to the original poster:

Get a letter from a solicitor stating your circumstances, the
conditions, your compliance with the police, your earnings, why you
need a licence for work/personal circumstances.

99.7mph - 6 points, fine.
101mph - 2 week ban, no points, fine.
110mph - 2 months ban, no points, fine. - sold the car beforehand for
something with 125bhp less and played the previously unused car for
work card.

That's me above, I'm now down to 3 points (37 in a 30 on my restricted
motorbike two years ago).

You get caught speeding you take what you get and move on.

There's speeders and there's liars...

nope. why would i ?

i do break speed limits at times - the times when i know for sure there is
absolutely no danger of anybody else being involved if theres a mishap. eg -
main roads - no other cars about and no up-coming junctions where there
might be an unsuspecting driver waiting to pull out thinking that the car
thats approaching is actually sticking to the limits

My arse,

what exactly has your arse gotta do with this ??? :-/

inappropriate speed kills

as does appropriate speed - depends on the circumstances

********.

107mph on a clear motorway is a hell of a lot safer than 30mph in a town
centre.

What if your car has an unexpected malfunction?

Yep, 107mph average for me was 125 on the Marea's speedo. Bloody lethal,
those little 1.6 estate cars...

I didn't even get prosecuted.

Richard (has been stopped at 140mph (indicated, flat out downhill in an
X1/9, so probably 110-115ish) on the M8 and not prosecuted either. One
policeman, Scotland ).

have you?
exactly
personally, you can go as fast as you want, or as slow as you want
as long as you don't get in my way or cause me any problems, do what you
will
if the majority of drivers thought this way I'm sure there would be less
"fools" on the road than there are at this present time

(here's a hint, look up the lorry drivers are Muppets thread started by me
to see how many Muppets actually frequent certain groups where the key words
are "modification")

got pulled on the M25
I "averaged" 140 mph on that journey
even the helicopter couldn't keep up, which is why I got a slap on the wrist
and told "slow down sonny" as the copper drove off
it all depends on who you meet if you get a tug from plod, but the camera's
just don't give a **** and will screw you as soon as you get a picture on
them

I was stopped at 135mph on M62 at 5.00am one morning, it was a very sunny
and clear morning virtually no cars on that stretch of road, one of those
days where you just want to enjoy being in harmony with your car. The copper
eventually, after the usual safety checks, said "just get on your way, take
it as a severe warning cos its a lovely car and if I do you you wont be
driving it for a long time and thats if you can afford the insurance when
you get your licence back!" Now thats a sensible attitude!

Of course speed kills, thats just a ridiculously stupid statement. If you
are walking along the pavement and bump into another walking pedestrian its
unlikely you will get hurt, the same scenario but its Kelly Holmes coming
running around the corner you bump into and its likely you will get knocked
over, step into the road and bump into a car doing just 20mph and its going
to hurt alot more, the same car doing 50mph and you are likely to be dead.
Very obvious really isnt it.

But what actually causes most of the problems and deaths on the roads is
simply bad driving, that does include, but is no way limited to, driving too
fast for the conditions or surroundings but it also includes realising you
are tired and need to stop for a while and many other different sceanrios
that will all cause death and destruction on our roads.

So in my opinion its down to better education of drivers.

I raced sidecar outfits, cars and rallied cars. Until I started racing I was
a crap driver, albeit a fast crap driver, but then I became very aware of
how cars handle under certain conditions at speed and it improved my road
driving immensly.

Our current system of driving test should change and include much more about
understanding how cars work, driving techniques, motorway driving, fast
driving, driving in different conditions inc night driving etc etc.
