Hi all, I`m just wondering if there are any good sources for information on what cars run well with vegetable oil instead of/as well as diesel. I`ve had a look on Google and found plenty of sites that details the work that can be needed to run on 100% veg oil, but I`m looking more for information along the lines of "A VW Polo SDI runs happily on 25% veg oil and 75% diesel with no...

Hello all Got a problem with my galaxy I'm hoping you can help with. The 1st problem I had was the power dying after about 20-30 mins of driving. After some hunting about in the net the most likely parts were Coil Packs, MAF or O2 sensor. As I was about to go on a long journey I bit the bullet and bought the lot. That fault went away (pretty sure it was a duff coil pack)

Hi all, This question is maybe ignorant. When you use a hi gauge to measure compression, could it be a false result - compression too high ? There is a scale on the hi-gauge which indicates a green zone above 10 bar and below 15 bar, readings outside this zone are marked in red. Can compression be low, but compensated by oil leakage past the piston rings ? When I had compression of another car...

Dear All, I'm recommissioning my Herald at the moment. After a certain amount of swithering, I decided to go for silicone fluid in the brake and clutch. The clutch, which I did first, was fine. However, the brakes have been a real pain. After a first session, with almost a litre of fluid through the system the pedal was still very springy. A second session a week later improved things a bit. A...

Appreciate some feedback on any of this... 1) wife's Amica is hesitating when accelerating and (I asked before) does look like some sensor going west. As I can't get a workshop manual for it (doesn't seem to be one), would it be "the thing" to ask a dealer to run the diagnostics and get a printout? I think SWMBO's ZX 19D needs a new cable. I adjusted it about 2 months ago due to lack of oomph and slackness in the cable. This made a huge difference but the slackness and lack of go have returned and I am running out of adjustment. I presume this means a new cable. The Haynes BoL is less than specific about how to do it (the photos are dreadful) and GSF sell just the one cable kit. Is there...

A rather nice looking MGF has come up for sale locally to me, 1.8vvc, P reg (96/97) for £1000. I'm sorely tempted. A quick look around the outside shows the cosmetics in reasonable order, some rust bubbles at the front of the OS door, otherwise no corrosion. A google shows they are prone to head gasket failures, and a few other faults, like the exhaust header pipe decaying, and suspension...

Hi, a relative is about to purchase a 2002 ( I think) Vectra 1.8 (petrol) He's been told that it has a chain, rather than a belt - but I have a nagging suspicion that it is actually a timing belt. It's done 60,000 - dunno what the recommended change interval is (if it is a belt) or whether a belt change has been done previously.
