well tomorrow lunch time will be 1 week with the mini. so far i've loved it, been going through the manual and finding out all the little bits it can do, even the pointless but cool half wind down of the windows if you hold the unlock button on the key, why i don't know but looks cool and would be useful in summer to ditch some hot air before getting in. another cool feature is if you flash...

Are there any that don't? My Focus is pretty good in this respect being the newest car I've owned for a while and not afflicted by bleeding great holes in the undercarriage like the XR2i that preceded it but it still steams up inside, mainly on the front windscreen, on particularly cold and damp days. Part of the problem I suspect is it never gets a decent run to dry it out thoroughly inside...

I have read a lot of the debates for and against fwd and rwd cars, and having had to take out a RWD car today (having mainly only driven FWD cars), I was a bit panicked.. especially as the roads were wet and slippery (country lanes). however the car performed perfectly and I never slid, span or anything, TBH I didn't even notice a difference... but was driving "gently" after the RWD =...

My wife recently had her fifth accident in 6 years, writing off our Saab 9-5. So, to replace it I need a safe car. It also needs to be auto, as she never got the hang of the gear stick thingy in the middle of the car. I don't really want to spend more than around £5k as she does such horrible things to cars, but I could pay a bit more if needed or to get better value for money. I will try...

Thanks to all who offered advice on this topic recently. I can now give you the following feedback. Plastikote is not made for exterior finishes. Certainly not on cars. It didn't say this on the tin and I took it back for a refund. Also, it doesn't like being smeared with a finger. It sort of comes off. Humbrol still make paints. I've tried a couple of metallic finishes. These seem quite...

Hi, I just bought a Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi 90 and there's something odd about the stamps in the service book; i) The first stamp is just a sticker which says, "The previous operator of this car was contractually obliged to maintain the vehicle observing Peugeot service requirements and so the validity of the warranty is not affected by the absence of a dealer stamp in respect of the first service."

Ok, for just shy of £10k what would you have done? Didn't that Astra guy get a LS2, box, rear axle and bits for something like three grand? Add a couple of grands worth of suspension, maybe a grands worth of brakes, allow another thousand for building the transmission tunnel, engine mounts etc. etc., keep £500 back for stuff like essential body mods and spend the rest tuning the LS2?

Just curious about this minor problem that started recently and wondered if anyone has an idea what might be causing it? When starting it used to fire within a turn of the engine, even after weeks sitting on drive, but now after just a day it will take 5-8 turns of the engine to fire. Hello All Is it normal for this car to make a noise similar to a breath from Darth vader (but faster) after switching off the ignition? It sounds like air rushing through either the air cleaner or the engine breather system and lasts about 1 second. It dosent seem to do this with the engine running and there are no hisses from the brake master cylinder that i can hear.

Was going to hire a van for the weekend to take some furniture to a relative some distance away. SWMBO wondered if it'd fit in the Merc if we put the seats down. Amazingly it did. I wasn't totally happy to take the Merc as the exhaust's blowing quite badly so I thought I'd spend what we'd saved by not hiring a van on a repair.
