I have found blank keys with transponder chips for around £10 on
ebay, but these would need cutting and I guess the car would need
some sort of reprogramming to use the new transponder as well,
which I believe auto locksmiths can do. But I haven't found
anywhere that supplies the section containing the remote
switches/battery holder/circuit board that slides into the key body
? Can these be purchased anywhere, and will this require
reprogramming as well, or just the usual resync procedure you use
when the battery is replaced ?

Not all keys can be coded up by autolocksmiths , many citroens , pugs
and fiats are dealer only as they have to access the ecu software
