not the ones that thicken the oil. but the one that are
supposed to
'swell' the seals ?

I used the Wynne's gearbox one for a small leak from the change
lever on the auto box of my SD1 over 10 years ago, and it has
never leaked since. In that case it did work, so I wouldn't
dismiss them out of hand.
