While they are in the door, get them to replace the window regulator
clips
as well. These are another common failure on the mk4 golf range.

I can vouch for that my sodding window dropped during christmas in the
lovely cold weather. So a strip down of the door in the freezing and
fixing
the crappy plastic clips with the new metal ones in about 2 hours was not
fun.... happy memories!

Last month whilst the weather was tolerable I did all the doors in an
afternoons work just incase it decided to let me down at the worst
possible
time.

My front ones are sorted, hadn't thought about the back ones. The parts
are around 80 quid, aren't they?

If so I think I'll just ban people from using the back windows.

All the best,

Hello,

The cost of the rears I believe are £34.30 per door so £68.60 for the rears.

Seems quite expensive when thinking its just a couple of metal clips and a
cable that you don;t actually need but VW so kindly said we are not going to
just sell the clips alone so heres the cable\spool and bump up the cost!
Lovely!

When I did mine as it was all off I changed the cable too for good measure,
although there was nothing wrong with the one in there but age.

Not sure what to advise for the rears could be worth doing at some point
before they drop and leave you in the lurch. I like your idea more though
and ban people using it hehe just press the child window lock feature on the
drivers door panel next to the window buttons which disables them anyones
asks why there not working tell a white lie and say there broke

Good luck my friend.
