Default Hard to start if first fire missed.

I had a similar problem on my Honda Accord. Turned out to be valve
clearances being too small. I reset the tappits and then installed a
flashlube kit and it ran like a dream.

This problem has been a feature of the OMVL system fitted to a Ford V8 I
own. If you miss the first 'kick', then you have to crank the engine as if
to clear out an over-rich situation. The same thing applies if the engine
is
turned off, and then attempted to start before 5 mins have elapsed.
The system has been tuned many times by the original fitter mechanic. He
says its normal, and the owners handbook says hold the throttle to the
floor
(on hot starts) which I do,..but it takes 5 secs of cranking which wears
the
starter out.

The ignition has been replaced with a solid-state unit which delivers a
healthy blue spark. Is this normal for OMVL equipment?

thanks,..Jason
