How the Micronet scam works
Micronet Showroom, aka Richard & David Loach, operate a simple scam which
has been succesfully used for years throughout the UK. It revolves around
civil disclosure law. Essentially they refuse to provide you with
information to confirm their assertions ("The car's ready
" / "we've been asked for the balance" / "the price has gone up" etc.
etc.). By the time you've paid them it's too late and if you sue, they pay
you back the day before the hearing after you've spent thousands on legal
fees.
Almost no cars are actually purchased and they make their money by sitting
on your cash and earning interest as well as stinging each punter for £1k -
£2k. Not enough to get too upset about. They are very close to being
arrested, and are being investigated by the DTI with a view to a criminal
prosecution. I think they will succeed in jailing them by the end of 2006.
Do not, whatever you think, give them a single penny. Do not, in any
circumstances, believe a word they say.
If you have given them money and can't get it back, submit a Statutory
Demand against them personally, this leads towards a bankruptcy petition
and they will pay you back if you follow this route. Written Feb / March
2006.
