Default Jeep Cherokee running rough - update

Many thanks to all who offered advice regarding my Jeep Cherokee running
rough when switched to operate on petrol. Most ideas revolved around the ECU
requiring resetting. It actually has proved to be a faulty fuel pump. It
runs for a short while before the output drops to a trickle.

My garage has dropped my tank and emptied the petrol into a container - it
is absolutely full of iron filings. These obviously being the ones that didn
't get through the pump filter!

To keep my car on the road, I am now running without any petrol tank on the
vehicle, awaiting delivery of the new pump. The instruction sheet that came
with my conversion says it is crucial that I never let the car run out of
petrol. How important is this?

I get the impression that LPG offers no lubrication but assuming the engine
has been built for operation with Lead free fuel I can't see there being a
problem. Hopefully, the new pump will be fitted within a week but I'm
limiting my trips to an absolute minimum

Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers, Ray
