Question is one of the cars is a 18month old Renault Clio 172sport.
Is there any chance of a powershift grant for such a car and if so
how
much?
And can any installers out there give me a rough ball park figure
for
a
70
tank in the boot of the car please?
I know its not even remotely economical but if I can get a good
conversion
to LPG for a good price witha grant then I can spend the £9-9'5k
on
it
instead of buying a Fabia Vrs with some options for about £12.5k or
a
Citroen C5 2.2Hdi Exclusive.
Would prefer the petrol as its cheaper anyway with only about 10k
miles
on
it but who knows

Go to Powershift website and look it up on the register. It will
give
you a list of approved equipment/installers for that make/model.
(Google
on Powershift register) It can change daily so that's the only way
to
be
sure. 50% is max now for conversions. 75% only applies to bought
new.
If
you are in Scotland then they have a different grant system, of
course.

I thought all new petrol cars were eligible! why do they do some then and
not others? is it just because its the sporty version then? if so how
come

Where did you get that idea - or any of your ideas.
In order to qualify for a grant a specific model has to be submitted
with the proposed equipment in place for independent tests. As well as
supplying the vehicle the proposer also has to pay a fee of IIRC c£4000
for the privilege. This cost has to be recouped through future
conversions. Assuming all goes well the vehicle will be allocated a band
which indicates the % of grant to be received - assuming there is still
some money left in the budget.
IIRC Range Rovers have never qualified for a grant. Although there are
currently 2 entries on the Powershift Register, look a little closer and
you will see the magic letters ENP against them - i.e they have not been
tested. This category was intended to indicate which vehicles were in
the process of being tested, but many unscrupulous convertors simply
used it as a trawl to establish level of interest b4 going to the
expense of submitting a vehicle for test.
If your vehicle does not appear then nobody has thought it worthwhile
putting it up for testing.
