Default Leaving a car for 6 onths

I'm having to go away in the near future for up to 6 months.
I'm intending to keep my car on an open air site, under a car cover.
However I'd like some advice on what I need to do to make sure I still
have a useable car when I get back!

It's a Mk2 Golf.

If you can, get it undercover. Tree sap etc. really can be a pain to get off
old paint after time (my car was bought from someone who didn't believe in
washing cars). If not, I'd use that overwinter stuff rather than a car
cover, as they tend to flap around in the wind and could scratch your paint.
Make sure there's lots of air in the tyres, and a fairly empty fuel tank as
I've heard unleaded goes off a bit. And take the earth lead off to keep your
battery from going flat.
