Default Help please. Golf Mk2 keeps stopping

Hi,

Continuing saga of my 1990 golf...

The current symptoms a- The car always starts first time, after
about 10 miles running, when it reaches normal operating temperature,
the car looses power and starts 'missing'. Eventually the car stops.

Funnily, if I turn off the engine, wait a few seconds, and re-start,
the car is fine afterwards.

Perculiar?

I'd go for the carb icing already suggested.

Had the same problem myself. About 10 miles from home up a slight incline
(so throttle a bit more open) power would just fade away. If I could get to
the top the ice would slowly melt and I could continue. If I had to stop
would restart in a couple of minutes.

The vacuum operated flap in the air intake was stuck down so cold air was
always drawn in. Used to 'screw' (self tapper through the casing) the thing
in the up position for winter and screw it down for summer running. Crude
but effective :-)
