Have just bought a VR6. It has 127k so was cheaper (I think) at £3300. Had
to put a radio on it and a new alarm system as the old immobilsier had been
bridged out.

I'm happy with the car, but I think it is misfiring at some point, it sounds
a bit 'up and down' at higher revs. Any ideas, and where should I get it
tuned etc?

VR6's love good petrol - mine has 132K miles on it & has run on Shell
Optimax since I bought it with 82K on it. The normal supermarket sh*t
will make it misfire under load / high revs. Good quality plug leads
are also a must, especially if you have coilpack ignition.

Is there a Haynes manual for the car? I read a posting that said there is a
bush on the gear selection lever that can be replaced - it is certainly
notchy on my car.

I can highly recommend the B&M quick shift kit. Not cheap at
£130(ish), but it removes all the sloppiness of the standard VW
gearshift. It's also got a 1 million shift guarantee, which I take to
mean "lifetime" ;-)
